A/C vacume solenoid (vacuum?)

I found a vacuum leak at the AC solenoid, the hose connector broke off. what do these do? it's the solenoid in the rats nest with the white dot. do I need it to run the A/C ? I think fixing/bypassing this will probably help a lot with my 12a that won't idle after carb rebuild etc

`12 v didn't seem to affect it one way or the other, it did complete the circuit. when I blew into the top hole it passed the air but gurgled a bit, so seems like there is a bit of moisture in the vacuum/emission system since the motor hasn't run long enough yet to get to operating temp for a long time.. to bypass it should I cap the lines, or connect them? does it matter as long as it's sealed? I guess I'm kinda just talkingto myself anyway since people are reading but not responding, but any help would be appreciated.

i don't think you need it to run the a/c. i think it simply adjusts the idle when you are using it. i may be wrong.

do you have a copy of the FSM? if not, you can get one at: Foxed.ca

also, here is a thread that may shed some light: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...2a-13b-954544/

as for your idle problem, you can always seal the vacuum leak for now in order to work on the carb, then worry about fixing the solenoid later (if you want to).

Found this under carb

Thanks I have FSM and carb manual. I have capped the lines but there is still leaking in the vacuum
system. And I found THIS when I pulled the carb after my mechanic had the car for 2 1/2 months
