Best way to determine flooded engine WITHOUT being able to tinker
My plan of attack is fairly simple for finding my "first" rx7. I've found a couple that have "fuel problems" "starts sometimes" from people who don't know the engine may be flooded. Since most people won't let you tinker before you buy, I'm wondering what to look/listen for. I'm sure getting the egi inj relay out is acceptable, but just in case i find a "you can look but don't touch" deal.

If they won't let you take out a fuse to start their NON running car,Walk away..you don't need that car that bad.
Ironic too, that they wouldn't let you try to start it up and they can get more of their asking price if it does.

Best simple plan of attack: Buy one that you can drive to a professional mechanic's shop for an inspection.
Alternate simple plan of attack that I used on my last purchase: If your region has government safety testing, then tell the seller to give you a call when he has the paperwork showing that the car passed the government inspection, and then you will give him the asking price for the car. That way it is on the seller to get the car in acceptable shape. Otherwise, no deal.
A 78-92 RX-7 in this condition sells for about $300-500, or about $500-800 for a TII or GSL-SE.
A 78-92 RX-7 roller goes for about $50, but sometimes you can get them for free just by towing them away.

there's more that could be wrong with an engine than just being "flooded" that will make it not start. that sounds like BS to me.
people who sell broken, or low compression motors say oh "yeah its just the starter, or man its flooded we started it earlier right before you got here..." stay away from those people. i see time and time again. and it makes me laugh,
if they wont let you look at or drive or start the car, then walk away... or else youll end up on the new user section posting a "help me please" thread saying "oh yeah jimbo down in Luther Georgia rebuilt the motor and for some reason it wont start.."
dont be that guy....
