TX Best battery for relocation in FD

So battery now that I'm going vmount. What do you guys think is the best sealed battery for a gen 3 battery relocation? My car guy says that a civic hybrid battery is sealed and will get the job done, but I've read that the westco is a decent battery too. So I ask my fellow fders what they think. Thanks

My personal opinion is to go with a Deka. I've used the Deka Intimidator for years and it has held up far better than parts store batteries (which are all rebranded generic) and Optima.

More important with a battery location is how it is done. Mounted securely in a box that won't fly apart in a collision, with a circuit breaker as close to the battery as physically possible, thick 0 gauge cables to the engine bay and a good ground to multiple chassis points.

The 3rd gen fAQ has a link to an excellent write up on this topic:

Types of batteries were also discussed.

I've been using the Odyssey relocated to the storage compartment behind the passenger seat, too, with a circuit breaker alongside. It is strapped down with a small cargo and polished with a black upholstery to match the interior. Here's a pic...

I have mine in the passenger bin, but thinking about moving it back into the engine bay with a small lithium battery. Can't remember what thread it was in, maybe one by Dale, but we talked about having a longer length power cable to the battery can affect cranking power.

I guess this could be an issue, but I get much better cranking power out of lithium batteries so if you use one of those it might not matter. You can always use heavier gauge wire as well to offset that.
I would be more worried about the extra weight from the longer battery cable though. Kind of self-defeating.

I think you could probably fit a tiny battery behind one of the two wheel wells, but it might be a bit of a challenge.

Simplest method seems to just put a pc680 sized battery sideways right here (ignore the engine fire, not my car). Works on FMIC setups (and I think v-mount) and is in the same general spot as the OEM battery so you're not running longer cables either. Since you can fit a pc680 battery here, mounting brackets are simple and off the shelf. With a lithium battery you're getting same/better cranking power as OEM but at like 1/10th the weight (smaller size, much lighter battery type). This is good enough IMO for most uses, but if you want to run a lot of audio equipment then the backseats might make more sense I guess.
