Well, Car Shop Glow dropped the oil pan today and there were needle bearing parts in it. Guess a rebuild in next. The engine ran well prior and had decent compression ratios. Front: 8.7, 8.1, 8.7. Rear: 9.0, 8.8, 8.
Does anyone have experiance similar to this to give advice on what the costs might be? We are thinking a total rebuild since the acr hasa 134k on it.

This is the e-shart torrington bearing. It sits near the end of the e-shart under the front cover. You'll still need to remove the engine, but a complete rebuild may not be in order. Really depend on how much of that bearing metal made it through the reast of the engine via the oil pickup.
Agreed, this was caused by improper assembly order and is completely preventable. The engine was turned right side up before the front stack was torqued. So the Torrington bearing dropped down out of its proper position, was crushed during torquing, then dumped its pieces into the oil pan. Any fairly experienced engine builder would have caught this at the moment they tried turning the engine over by hand. Plus, having stuff fall out from under the Front Cover is kinda hard to miss with the oil pan off.
Thanks for all the info! THe shop said it was exactly what you indicated and all the other parts were in great shape. Catastrophe averted and engine is GTG
