TX basicly permanently hot wiring my car???

Hello all I have had 1 hell of a time trying to get information on this subject as to it malicious intent. I have a 1980 mazda rx7 love the car... If i could get it to start. So my question is my ignition switch under my console has gotten worn out (tried to get the steering wheel unlocked after work for 2 hours) so when I finally got it to turn i didnt want to take the key back out. I took the back of the ignition switch off and got it to fire up. I ended up overturning the back half and it broke on me. I now have half of it hot wired. i have my gauge cluster working but I am completely lost as to what to go to next. I know the next wire that goes hot after I turn on the gauge cluster. But that's about as far as I know to go. Any help would be great on this subject.

The wiring diagrams and Factory Service Manual (FSM) are available here:

http://foxed.ca/index.php?page=rx7manual

These will help a bunch for the current issue as well as future repairs.

If I were you, I would just pick up a new/replacement iginition switch. New ones are fairly expensive (~$115) and are available here:

You could also get local wrecking yards for one or perhaps ebay. Once you get a few more posts, you could also place a WTB ad under the 1st gen classifieds on here.

Good luck.

Are older types Mazda like 323 or 626 sold in the US? Good chance the ignition switch from that same year of these cars are the same.
