Anyone have experienced the convertible motor going out?

I was putting my top down and at the halfway point the motor stopped working. It wouldn't go back down anymore, but i could go forward luckily closing it. Seems like it's just the reverse that went out. Is there a fuse related to trouble shooting this? Anything will help before i tear out the cover and "look" at the motors myself.

I want to say that there is a known problem with the switches. I have an FC but Im not really familiar with all the known problems. I say do a search in the FAQ threads for bad top switches.

Has anyone on here ever take out the motors and leave that area of the car empty? If anyone has attempted this project i would like to hear any information.

Hey you might want to check the cables that connect to the motor, see if it has power and ground.......but yeah jst like he said its most likely the switch, jst listen somewhere quietly and press the switch if you dnt hear the motor working then its probably that, but use a multimeter =)

The switches do fail. Mine has been replaced once before. You can remove the switch and try to clean the contacts, or just replace it.

In the meantime, you can raise/lower the top manually: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/manual-retracton-vert-top-629823/

It has to be the connections maybe at the solder joints cuz it worked when i went to go try it to listen for the sound it makes. So most likely imma take off the steering dash and re-solder it.

Hey you parting out your vert? do you have visors?
