93 RX7 Won't turn over
Hey all. My 93 RX7 was running fine all day. I probably drove it about 20 miles today running errands including a good wash and interior detail. I stopped to take some pictures in a parking lot since it looked so nice but when I got back in and turned the key...nothing happened. The lights lit up on the dash, the headlights lift up and turn on, the fan for the heat ran fine, but the engine doesn't even ATTEMPT to turn over.
Any ideas? I'm really confused since it hasn't been a problem and there were no signs that the starting was going out or anything. Not really sure what to look for. I'm not an electrical guy at ALL.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks!

Sounds like you have the not-uncommon issue described in this thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-relay-872841/
I'm not an electrical guy either, but apparently there's a relay that Mazda used that causes a voltage drop to the starter. I think it's aggravated by a battery that's getting older (lower output), poor engine/chassis grounds etc. That thread offers a solution, and Pettit Racing also offers a little loom designed to cure the issue.... RX7 Starter Booster
I had the issue occasionally when my battery was toward the end of it's life span. Would take 2 to 5 clicks before starter would engage. New(er) battery now and added some auxillary grounds...chassis to engine, engine to battery, battery to chassis. Haven't had a problem since.

Even easier issue than that! The stop on the clutch pedal that pushes the interrupter switch in broke, so I taped a penny to it. Problem solved! Cheapest car repair ever!
