90's GTU N/A air pump missing?
90's GTU N/A air pump missing?
Okay so I bought this GTU a few weeks back and I noticed the air pump was missing.
So I contacted the guy who said he took off a bunch of emissions stuff to make it faster..... well as I've learned the air pump opens my 5th and 6th ports... so he tells me he removed the sleeves of them so they are always open...
So my real question is should I hunt down the parts to put all that back or is it fine the way it is?
I'm going for the most I can get from the car I live in southern Indiana and everyone around here thinks Mustangs are the greatest thing ever and the Honda kids think they slap a body kit on their cars they have 500hp+ so basically I'm wanting fly the Mazda flag and get the most from my car what should I do... oh yeah it"s N/A.

I edited your post to put a capital M on Mazda..
I sent you a capital "I" in the mail,so you can Slap that on the guy that Screwed with that engine!.
Yes,you need the air pump for the ports on an s5 and removing the sleeves was unnecessary.

Yes, you want to reinstall an air pump, as well as reinstall the sleeves. While you are at it, you may want to get some Pineapple Racing sleeve inserts.
6-Port Sleeve Inserts (Pair) & pins(2)
I would also try to see what "emissions" items he removed, as it is most likely not emissions but rather components that make the engine run better under various conditions.
LOL, I have seen worse exhaust systems. Racing Beat makes some good bolt-on exhaust components, and you can also order them through Mazdatrix. If you want to really maximize the exhaust, then you will need to go with a custom installation. If you go custom, keep in mind that the rotary engine exhaust is extremely loud and hot, so thick piping and header flanges are best. Heat-resistant metal like 321 stainless or a titanium alloy is best, but mild steel or 304 stainless works just as long as it is not overly thin. The Racing Beat Tech Tips will help with designing an exhaust system.

Also my problem is I dont have any of the items he took off so I have to replace all of it..... and as exhaust goes im having a shop make me a custom pipe to go from headers to my Y pipe as to keep the cat delete. As it is right now its basically open at the end of the headers cause the flex pipe is melted...

The vacuum hoses could be a problem. The sub-zero starting system is worthless, but you probably want to reconnect the other hoses. You may want to look through the factory service manual to see what the previous owner disconnected.

a fence post exaust!! that's a good one lol. you can also zip tie the 5th and 6th port actuators open which is what I did with my raceported 87 s4 I had you loose a little low end torque I believe
Yeah I went out and had a custom pipe bent and put it on their right... it was the dumbest thi I've seen in a while and the flex pipe feom the collector was melted so it was basicly no exhaust after the collector so it was loud. Ive already bought a air pump I just need to buy some sleeves now.
