MD 88 SE cooling issues

Im running into cooling issues in my car. The temp gauge rises to about half way at random which from what i understand isnt good for s4s. Also on cold start up and sometimes the Coolant light and buzzer comes on with a full rad. I replaced all the belts and the air pump belt gave me the most headache. id tension it and it would come loose( the belt not the tensioner position ). Now the belt is is loose and i can here the airpump squeel on start up.. Ive been thinking of doing the airpump delete but will this solve both my issue? im getting the yoohoo belt and block off plate. i figured it would give my waterpump its full contact.

that can be a lot of things... it can be a thermostat, a clogged radiator, or a heater hose/coolant hose that has a crack and is leaking coolant. The worst thing which I hope you don't have is a coolant seal that went out on your engine requiring a full rebuild....

The car doesnt leak nor does it blow smoke. I did the champagne test and no bubbles.

Burped the system and the light went away but the gauge creeps to about half. I was thinking that belt would hopefully give me peace and quiet.

If the gauge moves "at random" then it sounds like the gauge or sender is bad. The gauge should not move until the engine warms up.

and i also have fan clutch problems with a previous car it was much more evident seeing as though it just over heated while in a parking spot... this car cools down if it sits. from like 1/3 to 1/4
