88 S4 FC TPS sensor

Hello all, my FC has had a high idle ever since I bought it it does the ECM controlled 3000 RPM warmup for a couple seconds then drops to around 2000 and holds it there. I went to the TPS sensor first after looking elsewhere on the forum, with the engine fully warm and my ohm meter's red lead on the top terminal of the sensor and the black lead on the right terminal I have 2.2k ohms with the throttle closed. when I move through the range it goes up to 4.85k but there is an open in the middle. With the black lead on the other terminal I have 3.2k ohms with the throttle closed and it goes down when the throttle advances. My question is could it be anything other than the TPS sensor? Is there any chance that the thermowax is holding it there?

Did you disconnect the tps plug? Car warm but off, disconnect tps. Black probe to black red probe to green on the tps plug. Make sure the thermowax is disengaged, you can lift up on the rod but you want it to stay up and off the roller so maybe wedge something under if you can’t hold it and then check tps.
