88 Rx7 won’t turn over.

This is going to be a bit of a paragraph, however, a couple weeks ago i moved the car a couple parking spots over and when i went to move it back shortly after it wouldnt turn over. Throughout the course of that week every once in a while i would put they key in, turn it, and nothing, but when i took they key out and tried again it would turn over and start. Not this time, it would get power all the lights would turn on but when i full turned they key to start it, it would make a single click, then once more when i would release. I had initially thought it was the starter so i got a new one replaced it and same issue. Checked all the grounds i could find and got rid of any corrosion, and replaced battery terminals. From there i checked the ignition lock switch, didnt replace it but it seemed to be doing its job. I checked as many fuses as i could, checked forums, and im honestly pretty lost. The car had been absolutely flawless before this so im really confused. Next thing im considering is re wiring the engine bay, thats really the only rough end of the car. If anyone has any insight i am beyond grateful.

Can you rotate the engine by hand either by grabbing a belt, or putting a 19mm socket on the front bolt and turning the engine?
Have you had the battery tested to be good?

Yeah, turns just fine. Bump started it when the starter was out as well and it ran perfect.
and the battery is brand new as of 3 months ago, plus i stole a battery from my buddies car just in case. Same issue

Sounds like the starter or it's wiring. Make sure the starter trigger wire has 12vdc.

Try a different key? Your ignition cylinder might be on it's last legs, as well. The intermittent results point to something around the key.
