88 N/A engine noise

Ok so I bought an 88 vert off of a friend of mine and the only problem besides the distorted interior is that after 2200 rpm the engine starts wining but it only does it of you take it up to past 6k first I have tried looking for the problem with no luck. The friend I got it off of said that it did it the whole time he owned the car also. Any help would be great so I can fix the problem.

You'll have to be more specific..like roughly where is the noise generating from. What does it resemble besides "WHINING".What happens in between 2200 and 6K?
My girlfriend whines too after I have 6 beers..I haven't figured that out either.

Lol. If it would do it at idle I would be able to find the problem, but it only does it under load (driving) and it will only do it after I take it to the higher RPMs. If I keep it below 4k while driving it won't do it at all.

Nothing is loose under the hood. No belt whine at start up or anything. I'm at a lose with it.

I will try and get a video of the sound while driving it next, if it will do it. Any other thoughts on the problem.

Your voltage gauge is not working on your dash.
Idea that I had before you posted the video was "belt squeal" from a loose belt.

Could be a bad ground I believe. Wouldn't hurt to check them.

The voltage gauge works when it wants to. I have had the battary tested and the alternator also, everything is working fine there.

I have looked at the belts a number of times and they are not loose, will check again just to make sure. Previous owner cut the powersteering belt cuz the bearing on it seized and it leaked from a line (his quick fix of it).

For your gauge it's possible just bad lever connection or lubrication IN the gauge. Remove the instrument sector and do a cleaning and rebuild should remedy the issue.
I fixed my fuel gauge which had it's own mind by doing that.

The belts may not be loose.,but they could be glazed which will allow them to slip at High Revs.
