87 not starting

87 not starting

ok ive been working on my 87, and i put the clutch and slave silinder in it, pulled plugs wires cleand each one at a time,
then i tried to get it turned over so i can check the full lines and wouldnt you no nothing just a click so i pulled the starter its good checked my conections on ground its good and solid cables arent caroted so im not sure whats going on

any ideas??

tomorow i figured id undo the starter wire at the cylloniod and run a wire of it and jump it at the battery

does it have a kill swich that might have got triped in transport??

any thing would be helpfull

Was it running before?

P.S. cylinder. fuel. corroded. solenoid.

it tried to turn over but never copletly engaged

well i tried to jump the starter cylinoid from batterie and all i still got was a click
so i checked the battery again and its reading 13.4 so im good there

im still at an aw of wats up

HELP!!!

All I can suggest is to double check everythign again then check your coil packs.

thats what was wrong to my friends FC.

sounds like the same thing.

Well, if you jumped the starter from the battery and got just a click, start by removing the starter and bench testing it.

i did yhat and even took it to the local parts store and had them through it on there tester it comes back as being good it continuisly engages

maybe your not getting enough power to the starter?

If it continuously engages, that would be bad. Unless I am misunderstanding.

So if the starter works, check the condition of the main battery cables and connections.

i check the battery every time i try somthing difrent
ive actuly pulled all theconections i can see and cleandthem so i dont no what eles to try

OK, get out your meter.

Check the big 12V connection at the starter for 12V. Is it there? Good.

Check continuity between the engine block and the negative terminal of the battery. Good?

Clip one lead of the meter to the solenoid terminal (where the black/white wire connects) and the other to ground. Have someone crank the car. If you get 12V here, and all other checks spec out, then the problem is the starter.

well did everything i can think of and even had a budy look at it
he asked if they have an anti teft device does anyone no??
any one no where to find the wiring specs? reson i ask is my positive termanal gets hot when key is in on postion

Did you press in the clutch pedal when attempting to Start the car?
(it has been Done.)..if you Don't the car will not Start.(safety interlock).
