2nd gen error code 27 and 37
2nd gen error code 27 and 37
Hey there, I am in desperate need of advice. I have a 1990 GTU and just recently after letting it sit for a few months I developed a new problem. I was able to get the car to start with the help of some Marvel Mystery Oil in the spark plug holes.
After the smoke had cleared I tried to take it around the block. When I reached about 4k and the engine was under load the car cut out. I think based on the abruptness of the stall, and the backfire that followed, it has to be from a lack of spark. Once the car is fully warm, if I shut it off and turn it back on the engine light goes out and it runs fine. When I pulled the error codes I got back 27 and 37 which are related to the metering oil pump. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or if this could be caused by a ECU problem.
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for you input Aaron. I tried pulling the MOP to clean all the connections and internals. I even tried putting in a spare ecu in. The car ran fine for about 3 days. Then of course the car starting having the same problems and error codes. Look likes it's time to track down a MOP. I am having trouble finding a used electronic S5 version for sale. Does anyone know where to get one or have one to sell? Thanks
I was also wondering if anyone has found aftermarket stainless steel MOP lines. I found some for FDs but not FCs. While I have been messing with MOP I cracked one of the hard stock plastic ones.

it was a super easy job to do, and didn't cost much either. you might wanna look into it unless you have your heart set on SS

A failed OMP will usually damage the ECU. If you just replace the pump, you may still find the car going into limp mode. At the very least, open up the ECU and check for burned portions of the board.
