2 Questions......
88 RX-7 Tubro 2
Okay so ive read up a little about the rough idle, and my car goes up and down between 1k and 500 could this be that it has a vac leak or that my boost guage isnt working because the line could be diconnected??
Second question is there is a very loud ear wrenching squeal/whine (and not like a squealing belt) coming from the front of the engine i tried to listen and hear exactly where the sound is coming from and it sounds like my alternater, could this be right?

1. Yes it could be a vacuum line. Maybe it has a hole in it or simple its disconnected somewhere.
2. Im not an expert on rotary engines but usually a squealing noise has somthing to do with belts. It could possible be the alternator. Check all belts and see if they have any cracks in them if so replace it should do the trick.

You can track down the noise by just removing each belt in turn and finding out when it stops.
As for the rough idle, definitely check all the vacuum lines. As well, adjust the TPS and make sure the BAC is working (see FSM/Haynes manual).

So the problem is still there i replaced my altenator today cause the other one was fried, i started it up ran pefect no noises no nothing the i take my car out on a little test drive and what do you know the whine comes back, it sounds like its coming from the turbo side of the engine somewhere.....dont know exactly
But the noise is only when its sitting still idling or whenever i let off to shift, give it gas and it goes away im still stumped,
* to explain the noise it sounds like a high pitched whistle/ whine not like a belt squeal *
