Smile 1st gen 1985 carb secondaries don't seem to work

I have an 85 rx7 that doesn't seem to want to make good power. It runs smoothly and can be revved up to 7000 rpm, but with the top off the air box, the secondaries never open. Heres the strange part, I had an extra carb from an identical car so I swapped it assuming that would fix it, but it runs the exact same... I am at a loss... Please help! also, in working to swap the carbs I removed the mess of stuff that is beside the carb and plugged all the extra vacuum lines coming out from below the carb. I was reading somewhere that there is some form of an oil injector, and I want to make sure i didnt somehow disconnect that, can someone send me a picture of that and tell me where the oil is injected... Thanks a TON!!! HELP!

I'm pretty new to this forum but think I can help you here. The secondaries will not open under throttle input only, they need certain vacuum conditions and apparently they don't open all that often. I used the info posted by Sterling in the first gen FAQ page to convert to mechanical secondaries so that they open fully at WOT always. I highly recommend this mod, it completely changed the way my car performed. Read this https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...ki-mods-62678/ it should clear things up. Sorry but I don't have a pic of the oil metering pump lines. There are two of them and they connect to the drivers side of the carb and originate from the front of the engine near where the lower coolant hose is attached. There is also a rod joined to the throttle linkage on the front of the carb that runs to the OMP as well. There is the possibility that your car has had the OMP removed and you'll need to run pre-mix two-stroke oil in the gas tank. Read the FAQ page and browse the archives, you'll find more info than you'll ever need. I've had a hard time getting my post count up just because every question I have has been answered before. Hope this helped.

That's a symptom of a front Cat Converter becoming plugged up IMO.
As far as unplgging the 'mess of stuff' WHY???

the secondaries wont open free revving like that. put a twist tie around the linkage under the diaphragm snugly so it don't slide down and take a drive. after some wot runs look at the twist tie. if they're opening it will push the tie down the shaft.
