1986 Fc Will not idle but will rev
A few weeks back my cars belts were squeaking so I replaced the belts and after I put everything back together It would only rev but would not idle , if I let go of the throttle it would just slowly die down the revs till it turned off.
Im am not sure what I did , I assume I just nudged something important as it worked before I did the job but I don't know where to look lol.
Any help would be appreciated or just a link to another thread that answers my problem .
Thanks

welcome to the board.
you probably dislodged or broke a vacuum hose and now have a leak somewhere. i would start there.
do you have a copy of the FSM? if not, you can get one from: Foxed.ca

That's definitely a European-spec Series 4 NA, N323 ECU. HIGGI is our resident European expert, but I know Series 4 and its variations fairly well too. Is there a vacuum line anywhere on the Distributor? My hunch is that the Spark Advance mechanism is acting up, in the manner that it is not returning to Base timing when you let off the throttle. I'm taking a guess here, but I have a feeling that the N323 Distributor setup was carried over from the GSL-SE but I'd like to confirm it before saying "there, it's that" as I'm a bit lacking in the book knowledge on First Gens.
Might sound like a silly idea, but recording a video of everything around the distributor would help get us on the right direction as far as how to address this. For most of us, this is the first time we've seen a N323 car.

Automotive peanut gallery
I know this may sound dumb but if the distributors on those can be clocked to time it try and rotate It around to see if you can get good idle going
