Exclamation 1982 FB Wipers, Warning lights and buzzers

Hello all

Just looking for some help with my electrical headache I am experiencing in my 1982 RX7 Fb.

Currently my wipers only work on the fastest setting and do not return to home/default place.
Cleaned the contacts in the lever/switch and has not made a difference

Also I do not have any warning about door open, lights on or seat belt warnings.

Would a faulty CPU be responsible for this?

Looking forward to your replies

Mike

Under the front grill piece by the windshield is a four prong block connector and a single ground connector. Check all of those for power at different settings. I don't remember which should be powered when, but I believe the Hanes manual has a pin-out for it. Under the dash is a black relay box/enclosure that hangs down a little which is used for the intermittent setting. I'm sorry for the unspecific reply, but I can probably provide more info when I get home and can look at my car. Seeing that it's been a little while, have you fixed this already or made and progress?

Edit: As for your other issues... The buzzer for the seatbelt, doors, and over-rev are all the same and it is mounted on the backside of the dash cluster. In my car they sometimes decide to work and other times not so I'm not sure what your issue may be. There is no warning light for the doors although there is a seat belt light that is on a timer for only a few seconds after you put the key in the run position.

The CPU (or ECU) does not control either system.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

ive replaced that black relay box (called the cpu) and it made no difference. I’ve also tried replacing the motor for the wipers and that’s not fixed it either

Hi all just to give an update,

ive found I was missing the relay for the warning lights however plugging it in hasn’t fixed it however the relay does click so going to take out the dash tomorrow

replaced my wiper motor and has not fixed any issues. I’ve tried another cpu (definitely a working one this time) and not working either. Cleaned the contacts for the motor and I have cleaned the switch contacts also and to no avail

going to try behind dash to find broken cables or lights

any other solutions would be a great start

cheers guys

Have you tried using a multimeter and tracing the voltage to ensure the wiring/circuits are getting the current inputs/outputs? Blasting the parts cannon isn't working.

Turns out i was missing the check relay, plugged that in and no luck as of yet

Fixed my wipers problem, someone had decided to cut into them and not repair them

Only issues left is the warning lights on ignition and the door chimes and such

All the warning light bulbs are fine as ive had the cluster out and checked.

Thanks in advance for replies
