Stock 12a 1981. Having some engine issues possibly. Been sitting for a few years, wasnt started regularly. Back in town! Today I started it up and let it idle for about 15min. If I give it any gas it dies out fast, unless I have the choke on then I can rev it without stalling.
there is an odd horn type sound coming from the carb, in the video I show which hole the noise is coming from, what is that for?
I previously suspected the smog pump was the issue, although it's been years I cannot remember why.
also there is a metal hose missing that goes from the exhaust (i think from the catalytic) into a rubber hose at the rear of engine on the passenger side.
any help is greatly appreciated! I'm mechanically inclined and know the rotary basics but very very rusty with the rotary.
Is it the idle compensator?
Warmed the car up again today, throttle response is the same. Took it for a short drive, only way to do that is holding the choke on, with choke on it drives ok, driving without choke it will feel jerky and stumble and rpm drops alot and it will die.. any help or advice would be great, thanks!
Is this acceptable for accelerator pump spray? Engine was off when I opened the throttle. You were spot on though Thank You! The accelerator pump is leaking fuel from the diaphragm.
having trouble converting videos to fit on the forum, had to take the audio out to get the best resolution. Is there an easier way to upload videos? should I create a YouTube account?
Having trouble identifying this component, this is the source of the air horn noise, the accelerator pump above it is leaking drops of fuel onto it. I hooked a rod on the end of the component to show that the slightest movement in any direction eliminates the noise. This was originally a video but having issues uploading a video under 5 mb with good quality.
so any suggestions on how to upload videos here? And what this component is? Thank you guys again
I think that's the mechanism for the anti-backfire valve. When you take the carbie off, you will see that one of the manifold runners has a valve/plate to block it off, and that is what actuates it.
