1979 RX7 SA Bringing back from dead starting issues

Hello so I'm brand new here been using the site alot of info on everything while bring the car back to life. My main issue currently is I have power and decent spark to all plugs, I have fuel to carb, and I have good compression. However the car cranks and cranks and cranks and hits very lightly every now and then just like a burp. After doing this for a bit I can look down carb it's all wet from fuel and when i pull plugs they are soaked in fuel cranking with plug out blow fuel out, so im wondering what the issue may be as far as I'm seeing it's a excess of fuel or a lake/weak spark issue. Any ideas would be appreciated and sorry for the long windedness.

welcome to the board.

you can get a copy of the FSM here: Foxed.ca

here's a thread on deflooding the car: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...85-fb-1149061/

after you deflood it, you could also try pouring a little oil down the primaries and turning the engine over a few times, by hand, before trying to start it.

Coil power

So I've cleaned everything checked resistors and coils all tests show good but when under cranking to test voltage at the coils I'm getting 9v to the leading coil which seems correct and only 4v to the trailing I'm not sure why it's losing voltage

maybe try swapping the coils around and see if it's the circuit or the coil itself?

She runs

Welp after wiring up toggles and a push button start on it, along with cleaning plugs and terminals it fired up instantly after sitting for 20 years mind you I did put some fluid down the carb and plug holes for the extra lube and have the pre mix pretty heavy just for this first start but she ran and ran happy. Now I just need to clean up all the toggles and stuff since it was just a temporary deal and make a plate for them I don't plan on getting another ignition cylinder I'll put a kill switch under the dash if anyone trys to take off with it. Gotta bleed all the brakes the slave, change fluids, and take it on the road for the first time in 20 yrs

For a kill switch, use a relay and tap into the fuel pump. This way, the car will crank but the fuel pump will not work. They might be able to move a small amount though based on the gas already in the carb.
