13BT "popping" on 9psi+ boost
Hi,
I am trying to diagnose and fix a problem I started having on my 13b Turbo, its a FD engine, stage 2 ports, Microtech computer for fuel and spark.
a few weeks ago I took it out and put my foot down and the car started to "pop" on Wide Open Throttle and over 9psi, below 9psi boost its fine. I know that popping can kill a rotary fast so I just drove home nice and slow off boost.
I changed the sparkplugs thinking they would be a bit old perhaps and that would be the problem, Took it out for a drive and the same popping on full throttle.
My mext plan is Leads (which seem fine), Coils (but I dont know how to test a coil, especially when the problem only seems to occur under load) then I guess I have to question the tune on the computer??? which has been fine... and I dont see that the tune could be the issue all of a sudden, unless the computer changed its setting by itself???
Does anyone have any idea's that could help me work it out?
Cheers
Nelson

Top Down, Boost Up

Yes, you should be questioning how safe the fuel and timing are. If it's borderline-safe, you could definitely encounter random detonation problems. Air temperature increases will lead to increased intake air temps, which could increase your risk. We are heading into Summer after all.
You should reduce your boost level and check out how it is tuned asap.

Bugger... I figured as much... looks like I paid for a dud tune
I might just teach myself how to do it, as its got to be a good skill to have if I am going to run this car as my map will need changing every summer and winter??? as I was running it on the tune no problem until the weather changed... I still think that is a bit odd...
