12a into an 88 fc

My friend has a 12a that he just pulled form an 85 fb with blow apex seals in the rear rotor but he said he would give me everything for 250. I have 2 grand to start but i wanna know if it would even be worth it or what problems i would face. Or if it would buy cheaper to buy a 13bt

thanks

Well if you are looking for an extremely slow car build, then go to the junkyard and buy a 12a that would probably have good apex seals. 250 for a blown 12a is kind of steep.

Seriously, 12a in an FC?? Is this a joke thread? You have 2000 to spend and you want to get a 12a? Get a JDM 13bt from a place that will give you a warranty, and slap it in. Done deal.

your choices are 12A or 13BT? no middle road, eh? wow ...

seriously, there is nothing wrong with the 12A, but mounting it will still be somewhat of an issue. not to mention you'll have to build it and since NEW parts for them are scarce, i think you'd be going down the wrong road.

assuming your FC is not a T2, your 13BT upgrade will probably exhaust all your funds, and possibly require more (you're likely to need to build it, too). if it is a T2, then just pull yours out and build it. parts are fairly easy to find and they are affordable. forget the 12A!

if your car is an N/A, build your motor. every once in a while i see great deals on N/A 13B shortblocks. you can get one for a few hundred, then build it, possibly even do a mild streetport, install it with no fuss and drive your car. if you can do any of the work for yourself, then you may even have some money left.

i think the 12a would be too small for an fc anyway. just rebuild the motor that is in the fc now with that 2k. unless you want to go crazy on the 12a and do an injected pp on that wich would cost alot anyway, then i suppose its fine

Buy a tii swap and use your money that way. That 12a will need a rebuild as it so you will end up spending close to the same amount of money rebuilding it as you would for the full tii swap.
