Idles at 3k? Help!

Started my 88 gxl up yesterday and it was idling at 3k rpm! i blipped the throttle a few times thinking it might come back down but it just went back to 3k rpm idle. After about 20seconds or so it would return to normal idle speed. Im pretty sure this isnt normal... All help would be appreciated!

It's normal. Any time you cold start, the engine will rev up to 3K RPM for ~17 seconds.

Its the accelerated warm up system.Start the car in gear and it will only jump to 1500 rmps. It's normal for rx-7s to jump to 3000rpm on a cold start unless the AWS is removed.

Alright well thats good. So if I start the car up with it in gear "clutch to the floor" and it would only get up to 1500rpm as a cold start idle?
