thoughts on Autocross

So lately I've been thinking of trying Autocross out. I don't have any prior race experience but I've done spirited country road driving tons. I want to know some peoples opinions of AutoX and if I should give it a shot sometime

Its probably the most fun you can have for the least dollar spent. I autocrossed a hyundai wagon for a few seasons BC (before children) . SCCA is a great organization with tons of local chapters all over. There is even a beginner's class where you get to run the course with a more experienced driver. Your biggest competition will be THE CLOCK. Good luck. I hope you try it out.

Go for it and have a blast! Most of the people are extremely nice and helpful.

That's one of the main reasons why I want to try it out. I want to fully feel how the car drives and know how to drive better

I have Auto-X'ed on and off for 2 years, most fun you can have on a weekend for $50. You'll definitely gain alot of skill after riding with an instructor. Also, ask some veteran RWD guys to take a ride in their car when they drive. Just riding along in a guys 240SX one time knocked 6 seconds off my time the next time I drove the course.

I've been autocrossing longer than I care to admit(has it been 12 years?!?!)...

Honestly, it's a terrific way to learn proper car control, looking ahead, etc... And you can't beat doing a donut in a parking lot with the cops watching... LOL...
