Summit Point....Yep Im gonna turn my car, lol..

Hey guys. Not sure if any of you road race, but Im gonna give it a try especially since Nopi called it quits. Ray Wilson, Kevin Mint(FD3Virgin) myself, and Peter will all be racing at Summit Point for "Friday at the Track" (Fatt), on August 15th. That weekend is the Time Attack which Im not sure if Im doing yet. Remains to be seen if I can turn yet, lol...
Hope to see more of you guys out there.

What car will you be driving? Surely not the 750hp car!

I didn't know Ray did track events. Also didn't know BSR did time trials.

Well, Im not versed in this, but I don't know what BSR stands for, lol. As for me, I'll be changing my wastegate spring from a 20lb to a 10lb spring and running 14lbs of boost instead of 32psi, lol. Maybe lower, if the boost will stay. I already have a nice set of HKS coilovers. Maybe you can shed some light to what kind of tires I will need. I have 18" Volk's now so they should be ok to use. I just don't know what a suitable tire would be. Thanks.

BSR = Bill Scott Racing, the group that runs Friday At The Track events at Summit.

Run some good street tires. Kumho MX, Falken 615, etc. Or whatever you have. Really any street tire will work at first.

Yes, you have to call Summit Point and tell them you would like to come for the FATT.
Its $250 for all day.

ernie.. do yourself a favor and dump the street tire suggestion.. go pick up track compound tires if you want to keep that fd on the ground..
pick up some hawk blues.. bleed your brakes.. dial in your coilovers..
considerin this is your first time at the track... get some instruction prior to venturing out on your own..
good insurance from off road excursions.. youll also get an understandin of why ive always considered drag to be borin..

Ernie- +1 on dumping the street tires

Get a set of Nitto NT01's. They are a good R compound tire that can be driven on the street for not alot of money. Your car and the walls at summit point will thank you.

What course you running on?

Id say crank the boost down and keep an eye on engine temps. about 300 rwhp is more than enough, be careful at first learn the track Don't go "***** out "

Are you guys running the Time Attack or the FATT?

It's not likely I'll run my car much in August heat, but I am a BSR instructor now, so maybe i'll come out and ride in the right seat.

Do you mean Peter Farrell? Haven't seen him in a long time, let alone at the track.

So Ray's doing a time trial for his first ever track event?

Hrm, August FATT FD day huh? Maybe I can swing that...

Be careful with that car though man, that's one hell of a machine to use for a first track event... It'd be a shame to have it pulled out of a tirewall

I've run FATT's and Seat Time's in August before, and it's HOT. Make sure all of your cooling, oil, water, and air, are up to snuff.

Ug... I didn't realize this was on the Shenandoah. Maybe I'll just come ot and watch... I can't see using up $7.50/gallon 100 octane, and track rubber on the Shen.

FATT events are held on the Shen? Is this just because the main track is coming apart at the seams or...?

^^^^

Some are on the Shen anyway. If you check their schedule, a few dates are labeled "SC".

Oh I didn't realize it was Shenandoah either. I was thinking about going if it was on the main track.

Be careful out there. How much power would you be putting down with the lower WG spring?

Also what's Peter driving?

I have no idea why people are turned off by Shenandoah. I am of the opinion it is the most challenging track to drive on the east coast. I was looking forward to it the first time because I knew what Bill Scott personally put into the track (in design effort). I know lots of people who went there thinking they would not like it and after the weekend it was their favorite track.
