yeh... I'm thinking of going hybrid on my van with the electric motor doing the assist thing like on the new honda v6's... maybe use the a/c pump bracket holes and put a dual serpentine belt pulley on the crankshaft.

Damn it's been awhile since I updated this thread

Here's the lowdown lately:
Bunch of stuff installed, bunch of new parts bought, wiring is in progress, headeres are installed, exhaust goes on this week, wheels are on the car, hopefully it will be running someday. Nuff said, here's some pics

One of the new wheels:

Header clearance (tons of room):

Plenty of ground clearance:

Radiator and fan have more clearance than the FC/350 does:

First time I had the bumper cover and the lights bolted on, although Corey has since pulled the lights to work on wiring them correctly:

New partially installed shifter boot, courtesy of my wife, Bridgette (the old one didn't fit the shifter):

The front end, yet to be washed:

The new R1 lip and part of the engine bay:

What the wheels look like online :

The Magnaflow muffler that's going in this week:

The motor in it's home, though not yet complete:

The scratches that I managed to cause in the brand new paint by dropping my fu&*^%ng motorcycle in the garage a few weeks ago:

Thanks. OC is my goal, we leave on the 16th. Odds are looking to be about 70/30 in favor of the car being ready in time. Of course, there's a lot of parts left to bolt on, a lot could go wrong. I have my fingers crossed.

I finally got the steering shaft replaced, and it works great. I wasn't in a big hurry with work kicking my *** and all. I finally got around to mounting the pods and covers for the headlights today.

These pictures make me realize how badly the car needs to be washed after sitting in the garage for the last 6 weeks. Still fired right up though, all I had to do was reach in the window and turn the key

What did you use to replace the steering shaft with?

Any pics of the exhaust on the car, underneath?

A friend of mine is a good welder (by trade). He actually just lengthened the center section of the shaft by 1 1/2 inches so it would reach - apparently the subframe spaced the steering rack farther forward than expected, and for some reason my steering shaft was cut too short.

The exhaust is a 3" Y into single 3" into single Magnaflow. JTR/Sanderson made a run of custom LS1-FD headers. I got a set of 1/78 ceramic coated. Jeff's Muffler in Owings, MD did the work once I installed the headers. Mandrel bent and tucked in there very nicely. He's at www.insaneracing.com

looks sweet! nice muffler..i need to find a cool polished one like that but my exhaust is 3.5 inch. and the hooker aero chamer on there currently is too damn loud! i even put a 3.5 inch bullet muffler in front of the hooker, and although it killed some drone, its still too loud.

by the way, nice magnaflow transition y pipe i used one of them on my old firebird:

That car sounds un-*******-believably cool. Now it just needs a top mount supercharger and a shaker hood. (j/k)

You could try one of their race mufflers , that might work for you.

Magnaflow also makes a single 3.5 in/dual 2.5 out that you could put nice tips on.

My exhaust will flow enough for about 500-550 hp before I need to go bigger - at that point I'll just do dual 3"
