Question about Mechanic

Hi SOMD Folks, I was wondering if any of your folks have dealt with Affordable Automotive in White Plains, and if so how was their work quality and price wise.

I only have a FC, and most of you folks have FD's from what I have read/saw, so I though I would ask.

It's near 301 and Demarr Road, around the corner from Abbey Carpets. There is an industrial park, with other repair type shop.

I know the industrial center you are talking about. I have no idea about their reputation though. What type of work are you looking to get done? There is a small mechanic shop by my house that I see rx7's at from time to time. I think it is a one man show there but he has been in business for a while.

Don't know their reputation either. What are you trying to do though Jazzman?

And I think both I and FD3BOOST rain into you years ago on 301. If so, you have a nice TII.

I failed emissions, and need to get some tune up work done. I normally get my work done by Bret at RP in Manassas, but that is a long drive, and I have been looking for someone local, for the stuff I'm not comfortable trying myself.

I stopped by there Saturday, and they seem to do a lot of import biz (MB, Jag,VW & BMW's) The owner says that he is considered a World Master Mechanic on just about anything thing on wheels, or has a mech in the shop who is. They are willing to diagnose some issues with the wife's VW, without the usual diagnostic charge that stealerships charge.

We talked about Summit Point race days, and other rotary related stuff, seems god tho, I was just wondering if anyone else had dealt with them.

Carl is the owners name, says they have been in biz for 5+ years, and that he works on rotaries.

My fc is cool, mainly stock, but I need to get some body work (Dings), and new paint.

I just completed changing the interior leathers with the kit from Leather Seats.com, and adding a Jspec Mazda steering wheel, I'll post pics tomorrow for feedback.

FD3Boost, I think we met a year or so ago, you had fd seats, and I was thinking about trying to fit them into my fc, I think you had a rotary truck in your garage. not sure tho, you showed my your FD. I could be thinking of someone else tho.

Why not take it to Ray at PFSupercars in Frederick. He is not very far away if you go during the week and not during rush hour traffic. He does superb work, but seems to be very very busy this time of year with drag racing back in season now.

Good luck though.

Frederick is just as far as going to Manassas, I'm just looking for something closer than 50 plus miles.

You may wanna try Kearney Auto in Capitol Heights...bring kevlar and DO NOT leave the car outside their shop. They're pretty good about letting customers leave it inside if it needs work over night. They flushed my gas tank when some *** put sugar in it. Took good care of the car and picked me up at the metro.
But PFS is a great place if you don't mind the drive. Performance Buyer's club in Chantilly is good too.

Yea jazzman I know who you are now. Sounds like you ended up with some nice seats. The ones I had were kind of beat. I don't blame you for taking a pass. I did eventually sell them.

Sounds like the place in white plains might work out well for you.

Well I was traveling in the other direction at 60mph, but it probably just sounded good to me because it was an FD. My car is running great, I just need to fix the exhaust leak.
I drove it yesterday morning and then last night after the rain. I could feel a noticable difference in power when it got cooler outside.

Thumbs up Interior pics

Here are the pics for the new leather seats.

I did the work myself, hence the wrinkles, I will have to tighten them up some.

Dave is there any way if somethiing went wrong from seq to non the engine could overboost? The past couple of days I thought I had loose IC clamp because sometimes when I gun it, it will only go like 5 psi and it sounds like a boost leak. Then if I slowly let the boost rise it will go all the way to 15 and then hit fuel cut. Its confusing the **** out of me. I changes all most all of my clamps to new T-Bolt clamps and its the same thing...

The only thing that could cause you to overboost with a clogged cat that I could think of would be if the wastegate was not opening. For that to happen, something would have to wrong with the wastegate actuator or the solonoid. You might have blown a line of the wastegate solonoid since that is what you are using for boost control.or a line off the actuator, it's hard to say which but it will be one of the two.i think that the 5psi is from a clogged cat. I think the overboost is like I said either a problem with the wastegate actuator or the wastegate solonoid. Personally I would get the midpipe and then get a manual boost controller. That way you elliminate any future problems with a wastegate solonoid. So if then you have overboosting you know that its the actuator that is the problemo.

Nonseq.is not in any way going to cause overboost or fuel cut. All it does is elliminate prespool and transition.

hahaha sorry about that. Thats what I thought too, just wanted to verify. Thanks. should be ordering the mid pipe this week or next. I still wanna re-checkk all my couplers to make sure they arent leaking too.

Is anyone going to NOPI at MIR this weekend?

The only coupler that could cause or even would cause a leak that big would be the one off the Y pipe. The others are a sraight shot and are not likely to blow off anyway. You'd have to have o ne bigg *** hole in one to create such a big vacuum leak.

Yeah Im definitly gonna have to check that one out again. Its got to be a leak somewhere because even with the windows up, when it wont go past 5 psi, it sounds like im bleading my bov or some gynormus air compresser just exploded under my hood.
