Rotor Piston Motorsportz **CAUTION**

DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST (unlike me). I’m not going to say anything bad, but I will summarize my experience and let you make the call. Paid for a 20b motor in full, with a 2 week estimated time of picking up motor from 3rd party seller. 2 weeks progressively turned into 4 months. Each week after previous stated deadline, I had to reach out for updates to see what was going on. I was told many times “this weekend I’m getting it”. I was also told many times, seller has money, money in hand, going to pick up motor and each time ended with another excuse as to why he couldn’t get the motor. Fast forward 4 months later, it turns out seller sold all of his motors (true story) a couple weeks prior to the 4 month mark and there was no engine. I was told the seller was wired money by RPM to hold motor and through other sources and the 3rd party seller directly, it was found the seller never saw any money, never knew of any motor reservation or planned pick up of 20b motor from RPM shop owner. So what exactly was going on in the 4 month wait time? Your guess is as good as mine. Luckily a refund was agreed upon and it only took 1 month and 3 separate transactions to get my full refund. When contradicting stories were brought to the attention of the owner I was met with the rebuttal “it was just easier to text you that (a lie) instead of explain (the truth)”. Keep in mind I ALWAYS called first with no answer followed by a text because voicemail box is full and usually answered with a text message instead of a phone call. That was my experience. I encourage you to reach out to the rx7 community and do your research before choosing an engine builder of any sort not just RPM. Also after reading my review I left on their google website he resorted to name calling instead of discussing it with me (reviews can be edited). Very professional. I have also heard multiple stories just as bad if not worse directly from other customers. Just be careful.

Dang I’m sorry to hear that. But also really curious as to what you had to deal with, look forward to reading about it

Rotor Piston Motorsportz is a Scam

Long story short,my engine on my 94 FD blew June of '22, and I shipped the car to them August of '22. I paid the bill in full prior for a large sum(above 20k), for a engine rebuild,ECU swap to haltech 1500, a v mount, a new seibon ts hood,a new exhaust manifold, turbo kit,and a full stainless exhaust system. I provided a haltech PnP adapter, as the owner Mike said that was the only holdup in parts(January told, February I handed the part to him). I visited the shop every 2-3 weeks to see progress,to which very little to none had been made. I decided that I needed to pull my car in May due to a lack of progress. Upon writing this,I have my car and ported irons, but was dodged by the owner on 3 separate occasions when attempting to pickup my vehicle, and besides over 14kin parts and labor still missing after 9 months given to him, I also am missing my engine harness that I had on the car when it arrived there,as well as the PnP adapter harness for the haltech that is nowhere to be found. I know for a fact that he is going bankrupt, and is attempting to move to a different state to setup another shop, and that multiple people besides me have spent 40k plus that now have a car without engine, turbo or transmission to show for it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS ANY INTERACTION WITH RPM AND THEIR RESPECTIVE MANAGEMENT!!!!! They will feed you empty promises and fail to meet timelines they give you,and will take your money and spend it on someone elses car, most likely use it to fund their million dollar style lifestyle. I sincerely hope someone reads this and it saves them the heartache, and stress this shop has given to me and multiple others in the community!

I'm sorry you had to deal with this too, what a shame too that shop has so much promise in potential, and the people besides the owner truly wanted the best for customers vehicles, it's a shame how this is another way the community gets taken advantage of and people lose hope in ever getting their car fixed and running.

Honestly,it was because he stipulated it in the contract, I paid for parts immediately(understandable) and half of labor. Looking back since costs kept creeping up,I should have put it on a "pay as I see progress" style, but now I'm just dealing with the repercussions of my dumb actions. I got tunnel vision when he originally told me a 2 month turn around and I kept seeing cars getting finished.

Unfortunately he sounds very convincing and optimistic over the phone. I’ve been told he’s gone bankrupt and has changed names 3 times already. I get a pit in my stomach just thinking about your situation. I hope everything works out for you man. I’d leave a review on google, that seems to fire then up. Also, they’re located in Canada, but REC (rotary engines.com) it excellent for rebuilds and what not

I can confirm that all your concerns are valid. And I can take it yet a step further. Please, I cannot emphasize enough, PLEASE notate your mileage. The owner of this shop is notorious for taking vehicles out to the local “watering holes”. I have seen this first hand. The employees of RPM are legit, the owner not so. He cannot and should not be trusted.

Thanks for this... I'm in Maryland about to start my build soon and was DEFINITELY about to take it to them. Luckily I tend to do a good bit of research beforehand... The search continues!

you dodged a bullet! If you follow them on Facebook, it seems like they crank out rx7 builds left and right. But if you scroll up through their feeds, it’s the same 3 cars over and over lol

Lmao, I think I'll check that out actually. I also believe I've found a shop, JPR Imports looks good, and only 2 hours from me. Ill be using a turblown kit, so I really just need tuning, exhaust & misc. fab work, electrical and porting. Appears like they can get it done.

Looks like RPM has deleted all of their social media. Really curious as to what shenanigans they’re involved with now. Also I wonder how they will spell their new name when they resurface again lol if you want a good laugh you can check out their website for a “stage 2 rx8 build” only 15.5k for a meaty 225hp car

They rebranded. Look up "RP Motorsport", you'll find it's the same shop. It could be happening all over again.

He said he was taking mine to get detailed but was with his girl taking it on a weekend getaway to Virginia. Car is now wrecked and no one is picking up the bill but me.
