When you got there he told you $10 a head?, funny at 11:40 or so you talked to his wife as we sttod there and she said it was $5 per person. I can deal with you making $5 a head on this whole thing, but the another $10 for my car in a show that I did not want to enter. By the way, car shows have papers that you fill out with information so you can contact people. You did none of this but put the money in your fat wallet. That extra $10 you conned everyone out of was bullshit. Have a car show section if you want, and people pay extra for. P.S> Rotofest was not all about a carshow. Don't worry, next year we will not need your cheapass self.

I had a great time today. It was nice seeing all of the people at one of the biggest events on the east coast.

Sorry, though, pissing matches like this only give the rotary community a black eye and reduce the chances of putting on events such as this.

I was told $20 and paid it without question.

Get it together guys.

i can only second what everyone else said, other than the $30 ripoff, i had a great time meeting and hangin out with people, its not the $30 i really have a problem with, but we coulda done this in a mall parking lot for free... car shows are shows, ya know, stuff to do, vendors with special pricing and whatnot.

instead we really paid a lot of money to hangout, that's cool, i like hangin out, but we could have done that for free and called it "rt80 exit 48 hangin out caravan spot" :p

When I arrived I was told $20 for the car and $10 for me. There was no mention of a "car show" or post drag racing. I was just told $20 for the car and $10 for me. I was caught off guard since I was under the impression it was $5 per person. I wasn't entering my car in a car show nor was I planning to drag race since I have a bad clutch (and now a possibly blown motor on the way home ). Anyway, I feel a bit taken advantage of since I never saw a judge or felt like there was any organization to the event. People were just kinda hanging out and thats about it. If they want to charge $20 for a car show and drag thats fine but then we should have the option if we want to participate in either and pay accordingly.

I had a good time and met some very nice people but I would hope things are better organized in the future - when we pulled in no one even directed us to the event entrance, we actually pulled into the drag racing side and paid $20 to enter (at least they were cool about it and gave us our $20 back).

i was also charged 20 for my 7 and I,just to much to park, now i know there were shops looking to sponcer, but never were contacted, which could in fact lead to freeee give aways, all that money and there was no entertainment, something, make it a family event, like the first one at lake hiawata that was awesome, gaint bbq, and people ate together,....now for Jason, men talk not bitch out,for all that he does for rotorheads and rotorfest and the amout of 7s that roll out with him and his crew is rotorfest we kept rotorfest alive and it all sounds like bullshit, and for the judging, damn, cars need to be show ready and could only win 3times if nothing was changed from last year, their has to be rules, time for new management,i sorry but last year i thought Vosko did it by himself now it's this year too and every other year he was involved so,when is going to be truthful, but i still got a great tan!lol.

p.s. love rollin with you guys

I agree completely. I am not going to comment about the pricing issues, b/c I don't know what the expenses are for renting out Island Dragway. But, instead of everyone bitching about the pricing, why don't one of you/we (Rx-7 community) step up and offer a alternative solution?? Not trying to call anyone out, but it is very obvious that this meet is unorganized and it has the potential to be a lot better.

It was great getting out and seeing everyone and there cars, I had a great time!

I can see why this vosko person won't be responding. Sounds to me like different people were charged random amounts of money.

Get it together?

How is this giving the rotary community a "black eye"? Just because most people don't like being scammed out of money, and complain when they do, we're giving the community a "black eye"? So if someone on here said he would sell you something for $100, and when you went to pick it up, he tells you the price has quadrupled, you would still pay and be happy? I'd think not...

And it's not the money, its the principle...

Yep yep. I think I popped my motor when I was runing with you and your brother on 422. Motor is now running really really rough and vacume is shot. Damn it and I was only 2 - 3 miles from home.

If I wasn't buying a house in 2 weeks it would be no big deal but ..........ah well, such is life.

I agree. I don't care that it was $30. Hell it could have been $50 and I wouldn't have cared except for the fact that I expected it to be $5 a person. Again, like I said before, if they are charging for a car show and for drag racing and you weren't going to participate in either, then you shouldn't have to pay for it.

A fee structure is fine as long as its known and the same for everyone. If they charged $10/person and $10 per car to park and $10 for the to enter the car show and $10 to drag, etc. etc. FINE.

I could see two options in the future:
1) Have a sign saying what the fees are and give the people the option to participate OR
2) Just make a set price (known in advance) and have it include everything - no exceptions. For example if someone brought their Honda CRV, then they would pay the same regardless if someone brought their 7 even though they aren't planning on showing or racing the CRV. If this is published in advance then no one should complain.

The issue I think many of us have is that the price charged was not what we were expecting.

I want to apologize to everyone for maybe killing their rotorfest but i felt like i had to do something.

John posted about how their is no advertising for ROTORFEST which is true, and the advertising that is keeping rotorfest alive is all the members that bump it up with caravans leaving from NY, NJ, CT, DE, PA even CANADA! That is all advertising. So to help members out i created a ROTORFEST 2007 webpage hosted by my website ( http://nyrotary.com/Pages/Rotorfest2007.htm ) I did this to help bring more people to this event. WIth the help of Chrism/KelRX8 we had over 70+ cars at EXIT 48 off I-80 today. That in itself was ROTORFEST, because we were all in a parking lot, talking, looking at cars. The only difference was that it was FREE.

Now the caravan to ROTORFEST is the ONLY reason i ever go to RF to be quite honest, i like recording the actions (like me, kel, yellow FD, SIlver RX8, GSPec , Kenny RX8 and a few other guys had hauling ***). Once iget to the event its just walking around looking at cars, talking to people (which we can do for free), but $5 doesnt seem bad to enter a lot and chill, and later on watch some drag racing.

I showed VOSKO the site and even posted it up on the ROtorfest thread that jay made (TurboVR6). I IMed vosko he saw it and didnt say anything was wrong with the address or the PRICE i listed. I said its still $5, he said yeah.

Today we drive to RF, i see VOSKO handling the booth, im like okay whatevers. Give him $10 and tell him for me and my wifey. He says no dude the track just SUDDENLY Raised the price. Im like to what. He said $20 for your car and you and $10 for your passenger. I said WTF are you serious dude. I told him i only had $13 and $10 was the only thing i was going to give him cuz it was $5 last year per person. He told me theirs nothing he can do its the track. At this point i found it weird and was getting suspisous. What he did next made me think something is up, he LET ME GET IN FOR $10 (for me and my girl, thats $5 each, he waived me in). I parked and ran back to my brothers car (Black EVO VIII) and he gave them $20 for him and his wifey and when i ran up to see how much he paid, vosko also waived him in.

Now if the TRACK reallly got strict with their pricing and said $20 for car and $10 per person, and we have 2 cars that should of paid $60 to get in just paid $30.

Now i coulda been a dick and said wow cuz me and vosko are cool i got in for half off, but something was just ******* irritating me about this ****. So when i asked the Assistant Track Manager how much do they charger per person, she said blatantly out $5 per person, no matter how many cars. I said thats your cut, she said yes, "Whatever they do at the gate is all on them". I said WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enter ANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was was walking away back to my corner when i just got heated and got NYRA heads, NJRA, and CTRA and a few other key players in making this event what it is ((Chrism and KEl from Envy MOtorsports)

We approached VOSKO at the gate, where i knew vosko knew something was up. I tried to pullhim to a corner to talk to him and he made me wait for a few minutes while he tried to keep himself busy. When i confronted him, i let him tell me again in FRONT OF EVERYONE, that the track issued the price!

This way i can prove it wasnt just me making **** up!

Then he walks over to the assistant (daughter ) manager of the track and has a convo with her. So i decide to walk over and have a 3 way convo with them.

In front of everyone she says the track only chargers $5 per person. Then vosko switched up mad quick and said but "Oh they are all entered in the car show". I said wtf, u just decided to put everyone in a car show no even letting us tell you if we wanted to be in one. LIke everyone said the durango and honda really had a chance in a rotary car show with pistons huh, that was a dumb move. You shoulda said the truth, you want to cover some costs and needed the money.

I then say its okay to charger $10 per person, thats not an outrageous price. If you gotta give the racetrack half of it for costs/rental etc, and the $5 to cover your trophies (that prolly cost a few bucks anywho cuz there generic and puny). Then thats understandbale but tell us when you make your Rotorfest thread (which is hard to find and the only threads you do find is members thread bumping the event, doing all the leg work for the event). Man up to it and say you need to cover costs for holding the event, $20 per car (with 2 occupants) not make the **** up once we traveled over 100 miles paid a **** load of money on tollz, dont pull that blanket over our eyes, were not kids.

I talked to ppl that told me they were only charged $10 per person since they werent in a rotary, but they were in a rotary car show where rotarys had to pay $20 per car, and $10 per person wtf!

You went around this the whole bad way. I do apologize for screaming in your face and being 1 second away from KNOCKING you out, but when you try to feed me bullshit to my face like im some bitch, **** THAT. You owe it to everyone who attended a fucknig apology cuz what you did was ******* grimmey.

I even offered to help vosko put some entertainment at the event, get some vendors, make it more fun that jujst sitting watching american muslce cars race all day and getting 1 hour at 5pm when the ***** closing to watch OUR people go! I even offered to bring MAZDASPEED in on this event, he told me , so what he knows ppl in mazdaspeed too, i just backed off and told him i wanted to help. I even contacted SPEEDSOURCE with the Mazda RX-8's in the Rolex GT Series (http://nyrotary.com/Pages/Rolex_GT_Series.htm ), since we have become good freinds over the course of the year. SPeedsource said that they would of came if they didnnt have to be so far away in Illionois. Now imagine how fun that would be having a real mazda race team at the track talking to all the members about 2OB rotary engines, thats something i would pay $20 for, not what we had today!!!

So i tried to help out and i got the cold shoulder, so **** that, ill use it to make my own event!

I offered my help and what did you tell me, why? I said what do you mean why? You said i like it nice and simple. Now i see why. Since you banked $30 per car on the average car making $20 profit per person and not having any other real expenses than the trophies (since the $10 went to paying the track per 2 ppl, etc)
Then like rob and mindy said you can bank thousands of dollars.

We could of had ROTORFEST in bear mountain (where NYRA holds one of our meets) paying NYstate $6 to park with the oppertunities of nice clean bathroooms, family oriented environment with LAKES, Pools, toys, and ample back roads to drive on for ******* $6 bucks. Instead we pay $30 to park in a field and sit and wait for the JUDGES (if any) to issue there judment on cars that they dunno who the **** they belong to (since they dont have any tickets/fliers filled out).

Yeah i got in your face twice cuz your trying to pull a BITCH MOVE, and i feel like i OWE to everyone that came with us Over 70 cars the right to an explanation when they are asking me , "I thought it was only $5 like last year if you are a spectator".

Now you may feel all big and bad that you got me thrown out, which you didnt really do cuz iwas on my way out any way, but to have a security guard come and pick me up to kick me out was the ICING on my cake. Im such a threat that you even called teh POLICE on me. I saw the cop drive in and point to me as i was drivng off, he even followed me thru the crowds and passed me to see if i do anything stupid on my way out. He talked to your security guard that you had come to escort me out, i even told the dude to have a nice day. I told him what you did and he said that its messed up but that he has to do what the track todl him, so i agreed and went my way.

And the SECURITY GUARD saw everyone around me packing their **** to leave, and he told them "You guys dont have to leave". My team said, well hes leaving and we are with him, so how you like that now! You thought i didnt bring 60 cars to the event think again son!

Your event wasnt even packed as it was last year, ppl are getting tired of sitting in a field in the middle of NJ where they can do that in their own hoods for free!

Then i get a call from CHRISM that you got MOON from Pettit Racing kicked out cuz he was agreeing with what i was saying, wtf is up with you, you throw out a guy that drove from FL to NJ for this event, are you insane? Guess you must be.

The only thing i regret about RF , was not laying you out where you stood cuz you deserved it. You should of been a man and spoke the truth, you needed a few dollars to cover your costs, but dont get stupid and price gouge us at the door, since you know we cant do anything but enter.

So i hope there isnt a RF 2008, cuz i wont be there and i guarentee you 2/3s of the cars we all roll with wont be there.

Well see waht 2008 has in store for us.

Mad love to all my real rotary people! Money is a ************ makes ppl flip on their own people.

This Rotorfest was a crock of ****!!! It's a damn shame.... I paid $30 at the gate and was not giving a choice of entering the car show or spectate, not like the other times. I totally back up Jason's argument, once he got kicked out I left with him also. We are all adults and don't need to be lied to. If you were going to charge that amount , it should have been told before hand.

no one holds the patent on Rotorfest, you guys should come together and give it a shot yourselves next year.

Maybe Jason should give it a go, he seems to arrange large enough meets with his group of people.

Rotorfest used to be a tighter group of people, there was also more people involved in the planning, now very little planning goes into it because I dont seem to think anyone was raising thier hand to volunteer to help organize it.

The old site required a cash layout to secure the sight, so more planning went into it to make sure the money laid out was re-couped.

Now the drag site came around, more people were happy, how you might ask?

- people got to race, this is one of the reasons we are not allowed back into Rotorfest site #2- people were driving like lunatics.

- the organizers of the event ( used to be Vosko and Jay ) did not have to lay money out of thier own pocket to get it together.

As for sponsors- the drag strip wants them to have INSURANCE. Same goes for a DJ, I doubt a sponsor is going to want to lay out the addional money for insarance. Dont get mad at Vosko for that- get mad at the track.

So if someone else wants to give it a go- have it it, start planning now!

I'm from the 8 forum but I'm really heated about what happend today so I'm posting here.

Being lied to is just bs. I came there expecting to pay $5 a person. Charging an extra $25 because you're greedy as sin is just wrong.

... and by the way, Vosko, kicking people out because they're pissed about your lies and screw ups is kind of a douche bag move, just in case you didn't realize that... especially kicking out Moon, who drove from FLORIDA, to come to this event. That's just a sin.

My brother and I were the 3 or 4th car to get in this morning (black beemer). We were charged only $10 a head and NO charge for the car. Seems like as the day progressed the pricing also changed. We had no idea there was a car show.. I feel bad for the people who were actually polishing their cars and making them look impeccable... for a mail-in trophy
If anything I think non rx7's should have been charged extra.... after all.. without the 7's ... there would have been no show (8's I can see at a mazda dealer's parking lot :b j/k)

Anyway, had a great time. Can't wait to get another 7 and get me one of them crackerjack trophies.

i charged everyone the same way(just like you got charged), there was a few times when i was not at the booth(mainly to get yelled at). the way i charged people was(should have been the same for anyone)
$10 per person
$10 per rotary car
thats it.
if you happened to get overcharged it was not by me and not intentional!

alot of people were let in at a discount because they did not have enough money(many only brought $5-$10 total)

again i didnt tell them to kick out moon. he talked to me then demanded security then the track owner. after that i have no idea what happened. the only person i told to leave was jason for cursing at me and saying he was going to physically attack me. nobody has the right to talk to me like that. even over $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its also amazing how opinions change once you guys are behind a keyboard
