yea... but then youd be driving a mustang zach...

actually i guess i cant say anything since ill be going ford.

my power tech teacher last year had a couple of old mustangs, one being a 71 gt500 with 40k on it, and the other being (forgot the year) convertable gt350. he had like 2 others, but didnt really drive them. hes the original owner of the gt500. that car was my first oil change . he showed us a time slip of it running a low 11 on street tires. it was quite the beast. i alway told him he needed to drop that car and get a real car... like an rx7. i actually taught him how rotaries worked. i brought in those housings, end plates, essentric shafts and so on and taught the class on rotaries. i miss that class already...

That is one bad *** machine. Check out the 750 hp supercharged model with a 125 shot of nitrous. Ooooh baby. I'll take it in red.
In my other car oriented life, I am a Mustang person. I started autocrossing a 64-1/2 Mustang back in the early 70's. I still own one GT350 and a '65 Fastback. Along with a couple of other late model Mustangs in various states. Oh and a daughter named Shelby. I used to own a 289 AC Cobra, but I sold it a couple of years ago to Carroll Shelby.

The Sanderson (AKA GT500E) cars are not getting much respect within the Shelby community. I think most of the Shelby people feel the same about Gone in 60 Seconds as the Import community feels about The Fast and The Furious, so you get the picture.

They are nice, but nobody I have heard has been pleased with the workmanship of the cars. But then again you have no concept of how pickey some of the Shelby guys are about that sort of thing.

The rotary guys in my area are meeting up at Hooters tonite. I am hoping we get a good turnout.

You da man!

I'm a mustang guy too. I like the 67s & 69s. I have a 429 in the garage I'd love to put in a 67 as my daily driver . Have you seen the ones sheduled for '06 or '07? 60's look. Yum.

Yeah, I ahve seen them. Much of the body styling is retro '68 Shelby. The cars are currently listed for 2005.

Hampton Roads gathering last night has about 8 people there. We'll get together soon again. Maybe we can get organized and meet up with you guys from Richmond sometime at an event or something.

Calvin- That would be great to meet all of you since you are so close.
I have been seeing a couple of nice 3rd gens and a couple of 2nd gens. Anybody new to this forum?

Has anyone seen an RX-8 yet? Do any of the dealerships have them?

well, this week has been very busy. me and my dad poured a 20' x 18' slab of concrete in my backyard so we have somewhere solid to work on our cars. now i can use a floor jack, cherry picker, and crawler to get the motor in the car . amoung other stuff, this should be pretty badass.

on the car, my clutch comes in tuesday. its a stock thunderbird clutch. my friend adam said the stock one grabs pretty hard for it being in a 4000lb car, so im assuming it should be a nice grab in my 2300lb rex. the flywheel got resurfaced, i just need to get some flywheel and pressureplate bolts, connect the tranny to it, and i can drop her in. i picked up a wg actuator for $25 shipping, and im in the middle of a deal for a autometer 35 psi boost gauge for $25 shipped. things seem to be moving along, i just need to wait for the concrete to cure out.

Sounds like a nice place to work on your car 1.1.

Everyone can come over to my house to see my project sometime. It will still be a little while before I'm done. I have just started to receive most of the things that I need but I'm waiting on a few key things in order to move forward with the project.

Yeah, my friend here locally is putting a 302 (using Granny's Speed Shop kit) in his first gem. I tried to talk him out of it, and I could have if I had found him one good 12A rotor housing sooner... :-( Oh well.

Pictures of what he has done so far:

Well, so far I'm still earning money for a j-spec and a zach rebuild special I can't wait to get the tranny and other stuff for this bad boy, however, there is a serious problem with my project. I just found rust on my red car. I'm going to have turn my attention to the red car now. Who knows, that one might end up being the car I use as the white turbo project car.

Of course beer will be involved.
One beer for each part you put on, that way it should be built in one night and 4-5 cases.

When is the 2/$30? I'll go whenever. You set it up, gather the troops, ect.
