Philadelphia Rotaries (RCoP) - It's time again

How's everyone doing? I know it has been a long time since we met, and I have not been very active due to many difficulties with the car, but I am about to get everything straightened out soon, so it is time to meet.

First and foremost, to those of you reading this that have not already joined, please join the Rotary Club of Philadelphia (RCoP) Yahoo group as I will generally use that as a major means of communication. The group can be joined here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RCoP/

Now that that little piece of information is out of the way, we need to discuss getting together. I suggested late April to the group, but someone stated about school, so mid May looks like it might be the best. And since generally Sundays work out best with everyone's work scedule, I am thinking either May 16th or May 23rd (the 9th is Mother's Day).

Next would be the location. Generally it is at a Hooters , but does anyone else have any suggestions ? A park or campground area would make for a nice bbq , but I need to leave that one up to the Philly area guys to give me info on that.

Possible things to discuss/talk about would be getting reacquainted with everyone again and meeting possible newbies, and also getting a potential caravan to Rotorfest together for those who are attending. Also, trying to create a more eventful group would be a good topic as well.

So right now if people could just pick one of the two dates or post another one and post an idea on location or something to do, it will give us a place to start from.

Thanks
Ricky

Neither of those dates is good for me because I have finals up until May 13th. So I am good for anytime after that. If you guys want to meet one of those dates, then I'll just hit up the next one. (in 2009)

Well, I'm new and will be signing up on the list here in a few mins. Either of those dates sounds good to me (the 16th being the "better" date). I just picked up my FD last week so I'm giddy with excitement. Heh heh.

Either or. The 16th is the day after finals end for me and the day before summer session, so I'll be up for some fun. Just don't razz the newbie too much. =)

Ricky,
Like I said I should be able to make it. The 23rd works better for me but if everyone else wants the 16th then make it then and I'll try to make it. I am thinking if everyone that says they're going to make it, actually does then this might be a decent sized get together..

We usually do have a somewhat decent crowd. Nothing like rotorfest or anything, but a decent meet. From just watching, it seems as though there are more people around the philly area with them now, so hopefully we can get this out to them. I am starting to think the 23rd would be the best, especially since it seems no one really has a preference.

I am still waiting to hear from Philly guys about what we could do.

Let's hope I do better on my finals than I did on responding to this thread . Either date is good for me.

I'll try to make it, we should try to coordinate some of these dates (down the road--not Mays meet) with the local 8 club. I can try to hook that up if you like.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. It would give them (and us) a larger base of people, which would hold more weight in trying to get things together. But then again, they don't mind a few slow 10 year old cars hanging around, do they

Touring, they (we--I have an FD and an 8) don't mind at all--in fact all rotaries should be welcome at each others events. And the collaboration of the 7's and 8's helped turn the Glenside meet into a big success (check the thread). Wayne, who's user name is Irish in an Rx8, is the founder of the tri state rc8 club, check his site which I believe is linked in the Glenside meet thread. Lets talk, and see if we can all coordinate our efforts. Thanks.

Date....

Well, since it doesn't look like anyone really cares and I want to get the date out the way so people have time to ask off if they have to or make other plans, I will set the date to MAY 23rd. That way there is no conflict with the Carlisle which might cause us to lose people

So again, the date is now:

MAY 23rd which is after the 13th for some of you

Got locked out of this web site at work so haven't been on in a while. So busy with our little boy that I have not even had time to get my FD tagged.

Should be free by May 23rd unless my wife gives birth early. She is due this June.

Anyone want a nice FD? Not sure how much longer I will be able to keep it. All it does is sit in the garage now and with 2 babies I'll never get a chance to drive it again for years Expensive to keep it insured to just sit around - maybe I need to get an 8...
