YAY. i got my car running today. still a small oil leak to fix before its driveable and still need to get couple pieces of steel tube welded together to finish hooking up my turbo. engine sounds nice and strong. turbo is just shy of an air cannon right now. cant wait to get it on the road.

So apparently everyone died in the past 5 days.

my cars pimping the temp tags now. driveable but I would like to fix some more thing before starting to drive it regularly (such as bolting the hood back on and finding this pesky small oil leak). It will make an appearance at the next fudds meet.

Sup guys. I also have been dead. Something blew up on my 7 and it's actin' funky and non-drivable atm. So I picked up an 06 cobalt. So I'm left with an S4 to do something crazy with! Anyone have any good ideas? (Particularly one that won't put me into debt. =P)

I have a few ideas, but you may not like them. But they WILL make your car faster than it's ever been

I'm pretty sure the seals on the front rotor are done and somehow air keeps getting into the coolant system and there is a small leak somewhere. It stutters a lot when it's cold and you first start it up and it doesn't idle worth a damn. =P

If I could find a transmission with the right gearing, a Turbo Diesel RX-7 might not be such a bad idea. You can find tiny diesel engines, between 1.8-2.3L... I just wonder how much they'd weigh.

well i took my car out today to test out turbo since i got my intake pipe welded up. First run, blew the hose off the bottom of the turbo. so i gotta reattach that and fix some other oil leaks. still need to find a place that can fix my downpipe since midas cant do custom work.

last 2 issues before i take car to inspection:
  1. fix divorced wastegate downpipe to dump back into exhaust system
  2. replace valve cover gaskets to stop oil leak
  3. (hook up diversity antenna - not inspection critical)
i got pretty much everything else fixed and took it back out for a test drive. 3000RPM and my head almost got slammed into the seat. 4500RPM and the stock ECU hit fuel cut from too much boost (12PSI). i cant even hit redline of 6200RPM.

Also put my subwoofers in and realized previous owner had tuned other speakers for that scenario (wondered why they had very little bass even though they were new looking Pioneers)

ITS FUN

Sure did!

I'm still looking for an Erik Roliz who has (or had?) an FC, about 2-3 years back. I met him at Chinese school like 5 years ago, lost touch, met him again 2 years ago at a carshow, and lost contact again. Still haven't managed to track him down. Never thought anyone would be this hard to find :P

thanks! i'm a dealshopper...i was waiting until i found something GOOD in my price range. i didn't want to spend any more than $1500, and this was well under that. it needs a tuneup but is otherwise perfect for my needs. at some point i'm going to replace the plastic around the headlight, and the mufflers will be replaced (for cosmetic reasons, mostly), but it really only NEEDS an oil change, new plugs, and the carb needs cleaning.
