Just finished the 8 point Rollcage - pics attached

Guys,

This past Friday I got the car back from the chassis shop. I am posting in the NE section since if anyone is interested in getting a rollcage, Chassis Evolution is one of your choices.

I called a number of chassis shops and checked out a few of them. I also asked for referrals from friends. Enzo (Enzo250 on the forum) recommended Chassis Evolution. Mike used to work for another well known chassis shop and decided to branch off on his own.

To install an 8 point cage I needed to remove the entire interior (once again) including the dash. For a 6 point very little needs to be removed. They were honest with the prices, nothing hidden anywhere and installed 2 swing outs with the 8 point cage. The work was done in one weeks time. I dropped it off on Friday April 1st and picked the car back up the following Friday. I spent Friday night painting the cage with POR15 but there was a dyno session in progress as I decided to paint and the dust got all over it. I have to sand it back down and do it again.

On Saturday with the help of one of my friends we mounted everything back in the interior. I am waiting on the chrome doorsills so that was left off.

I am very pleased with the work MIke at Chassis Evolution did. Thanks Enzo for the referral.

The price was a total of $1800, that includes the $1500 for the cage another $300 for the swing out kit that I bought separately. Everywhere else I called wanted over $2200 and the wait was ridiculous.

A simple 6 point will run you 1000 without swingouts.

Also, everything was done to NHRA Specs, I will be getting the cage inspected by NHRA in the next 2 weeks.

The seat will go back all the way but will not recline. He set the seats for the driver. That back bar could also be bent like the shape of a U but its stronger the way it is now.

I like the look of the stock interior with a semi-hidden cage. I doubt I will be getting the buckets.

what about padding? Again.. non helmeted head bouncing off metal bars in cars cracks skulls open.

Sorry for the concerns, I am just a safety oriented person when it comes to this stuff.

another thought would a detachable steering wheel.. would make it much easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

Other than that.. looks pretty good

Yes, they are located in Bayshore, Long Island. I do not have the exact address at the moment but the phone number is 917-523-2892.

Thanks

Trust me, I have the same concerns. I just have not gotten a chance to get the padding yet. As far as getting in and out of the vehicle, the side bars swing out or can be detached totally so getting in and out is not an issue.

If you are at the track simply remove the top pin and the bar will pivot out. If you are driving around town simply remove the bar as in the pics.

Anthony,
Looks great! Your a bit ahead of me. My cage money was spent on a turbo rebuild and some other junk. So I have to wait a bit longer.

Not sure exactly, I did not get a chance to weigh the car before and after the cage. My friend is also getting an 8pt/10pt so I will have him weigh his car before and after.

The weight issue is a bit of a catch 22, if youre below 12's they kick you out....if you add the weight of the cage it might put you out of the 11s if youre not deep enough in there...
How much can they weight though???
