HELP Need to Borrow Pilot Bearing Puller

Have to change my clutch and cant spend $120 for the mazdatrix pilot bearing puller and cant mod a rented one from Advance auto. If anyone has one i can borrow i can pay shipping both ways. I really need this toll and would really appreciate if someone could help me. If you need any proof to show im not going to rip you off i can supply you with my ebay feedback.

I appreciate any help.

The one I rented from a local auto parts store worked fine. Why would you need to mod it? Pulling the pilot bearing is the same on any engine it's just the size of the claw bit that you use in the snout is different.

The tool I used came with different diameter "claws".

Ever tried the wet toilet paper trick? It works Get a bucket of water and a roll of toilet paper. wet the toilet paper and stuff it into the pilot bearing then use a punch or something close to the same size as the inside of the bearing. Tapp it in and keep adding toilet paper as you go. Eventualy the hydraulic pressure will force the bearing out and the toilet papaer will be left in a neat clump. Not as easy as the puller but works in a pinch. Ive also heard of people using grease

Thats really a bad idea. You can damage the eccentric shaft doing that.

I rented one from advance auto parts, and I rented another one from SALVO which is a local auto parts chain in baltimore, but they were the same tool from the same manufacturer. It's a slide hammer with a chuck on one end that you can swap the claw bits into. It worked like a charm.

Heres a good write up on how to do it:

this is a good idea but you can also do it with filling the rear shaft with grease and fitting a small socket that just fits withing the pilot bearing..then drive the socket in and the pilot bearing gets pushed out..it may be a 8-10mm socket or 5/16..dont actually remember.
