Someone needs to tell me about the sad, sad sight of an FB on a flatbed leaving Pungo... For $35 and some tire wear, I had a great time at the novice school. I even conned my buddy with the BMW 328 to go.

Unfortunately, I was in a different group. I saw the FB run at least one of the excercises, but after lunch it was loaded on a flatbed and taken away. I didn't see any damage, though i think i saw him wrenching under the hood occasionally.

thanks for the advice, i've been working and haven't had time to check the board. i dropped the 7 with will last week. good impression!!!! i'm picking her up on tuesday, so i'll be able to give details. for the stuff he's doing, seems like a very reasonable price. so far very impressed, we'll see on tuesday for actual results. i'll post something regardless, in case there is anyone else that has similar questions to mine. lemonr1, i would suggest you take the same step as me and take your car to will. he was very reasonable with me on the labor!!!

That must have been Nelson's 79-80. That was a shame, I hope he didn't hurt it any. Anyone have any idea......

I went out to the school, but had to leave before it started. I really didn't get much time to talk to anyone. I talked to my old neighbors (Dean and Jen) both driving Miatae, and Nelson before we got running, but I had to leave... here is an explination as to why----- :-( Straight cut and paste of what I wrote elsewhere:

Well.... This past weekend I decided to try my first shot at American Indoor Karts...

It was great fun, but it ended not so great.

Short story I got there Friday night, and signed up and paid. I bought my own helmet so I didn't have to worry about others fitting or whatever. My old helmet (One I chose to use) is a nice carbon fiber Simpson. They don't make them this way anymore, but I still like it. It is very lightweight.

I ran in a heat with about 6 people, all of whom had run before. I think I lapped the entire group, and it was uneventful and ok for a first time. I spent a few laps learing the course and refining as I went faster. After the run, my time was 27.284 and I was about a second faster than everyone else on the track. The guys I was running with were pretty good guys and we had been joking around before the run. Afterwards we were looking up at the monitor and one of them said "How was that guy so fast".... I just replied "Because all of you suck and I don't". It was said in humor and good spirit, so don't say I was being a a$$h*ole.

Second run, was more crowded with about 8 karts on the course. I ran a few laps and came up to kart #13. The guy in it was an A$$. I followed him for about 3 laps, and he was getting the blue flags and move over sign every time he passed the flaggers. I would get beside him and he would just run into the side of me. So now he was getting the blue flag, the move over sign and the no bumping sign.... I finally got frustrated and tried a banzai pass on him as he was held up by another kart. To make a long story short the f*er put me into the wall very very hard. I blacked out for about a half a second. I could not breathe for about 30 seconds, but the kart came off the wall and I continued. I was very pissed. About a lap later I caught my breath, and was passing all the other karts again. I got a couple of open laps and caught up to #13 again. I didn't touch him, but his incompetence caused him to spin and I went past him. I proceeded to run a few good laps and the session was over.

I had run a 26.877. I thought that was pretty good for a first night. Both runs got me on the fasteset of the day chart, but I was a good bit off the fastest. Technic1 was second fastest, and the fastest for the day was a 26.1??, and I forget who it was.....

Tha A$$ hole in #13 afterwards I told him that I thought he was an a$$h*ole and I never wanted to be on the track again. I think he is a regular there, as he appeared to be friends with some of the people that worked there. He replied that it was all just in fun..... Well at this point I was hurting..... and beginning to hurtbadly.

Long story short..... I went and had it x-rayed and they were surprised that I only had one broken rib. Yeah, crashing people on the track is all in fun... I am having great fun with that... This is why I didn't instruct at the drivers school, and missed the autocross sunday. Thanks.... lots of fun...

But I did enjoy the rest of the time there. I plan to go back in the 4-6 weeks when the doctors think my ribs will be better. Someone want to take that guy out for me in the mean time Smile (not really, I don't do paybacks, I just beat them on the track).

Looks like fun, wish I coulda made it. How long have you been waiting on that sterling Phooka? I'm thinking about sending my Nikki off, as a RB Holley SP setup now resides under my hood. Might I add that I'm not impressed with the Holley, but good HP came. Was 4 carlengths behind a Carerra 4 S today, impressive for me.

well guys i made it to cali, but the 7 did not. somewhere along the way the diff housing cracked in half, and the reason is yet to be determined, on going investigations are being made. lol. I have towed this car on dolly's before many times, and i dont see how anything could have binded, it wasnt in gear. Anybody have any ideas for new LSD's. hope all is going well back at the beach.

Sorry to hear that. I have heard of some transmissions failing when towed, but I have never heard of such problems with rearends. I know that there is a little more weight on the rear because of angle of the car. The loads are fed into the suspension a little differently, but I would expect that it would only be a little different than normal driving.

The one other thing possible was if the oil level was low and the pinion bearings were usually running submerged in the oil and now with the slight angle they were uncovered. I am just trying to come up with ideas here. I suppose if this is the roblem you could just overfill the rear and be ok. It might be good insurance when you pick it up... just overfill the rear significantly.

I wouldn't advise overfilling it by much, even though it's got a vent, the diff oil expands. I guess on the next one, put some redline diff oil in it for lsd's. Randy has one, and so does his Brother, Matt. Give him a call. I think Rich bought the one Randy has for his FD. Matt might have a spare one from the blue 2nd gen.
