NOPI

WOW Nopi was a great time, and the RX-7 turnout was pretty good. There was a FB running 9's pulling some phat wheelies. Although it seemed alot of the 7's where having problems. Ill post some pic's soon. My car was running pretty well with some more tunning i would have definetley run 12's. My best time was a 13.1 and i beet a 10 sec car off the line. It was the hardest launch ive ever had. Launched it a 8,000rpm and the tires didnt slip much at all.

Obxninja, I assume that was you in the red FC that was parked over on the back row. I could never find you.

TSCC usually has the results up by now. I will ask Chad today how things are going with them. It is usually one guy that does them. If he gets busy then they get delayed.

I sort of need the results. You need 2 sets of results each year to send to MazdaSpeed to keep signed up with their parts discounts. If you haven't done this and you autocross, you should. It could save you money on parts.

Calvin, that was me in the red FC. I was out working when you did your runs and couldn't ever find you in the pits. That was my first event with Tidewater and I really enjoyed it. I was always a little intimidated by the whole entry list , gates, going into the bases so I had avoided those events, but rest assured I will be back!

Jim, I did haul out of there pretty quick to get back to NC after my run. Iam sorry that I didn't speak before I left. My best run was in the high 55 second range. I didn't spend much time around the loudspeaker so I don't know how that compares with anyone else.

I am excited to have met a few fellow "rotorheads" and can't wait to meet the whole crew!

I was running on my worn out street tires. They are these bald Dunlop all-season rain tires. Next time I go out, I am going to put on my Yokohamas and see what type of grip that I can get there. I am anxious to run another event soon!

By the way--the results are up now. I am going to look at them in a few minutes.

Let me add another endorsement for the Mazdaspeed program. Anybody who is eligible and has not taken advantage of it really should. They have genuine Mazda parts and the prices are sometimes cheaper than the aftermarket replacments from NAPA. Oil filters run about $4 a piece from them---I ordered a brand new master cylinder for mine last year for about $85. Shipping is very cheap too.

www.mazdamotorsports.com is the address.

Here are the results for anyone intersted:

http://tidewatersportscarclub.com/re...a/APR-2004.TXT

I have also read about the NOPI event at VMP. It sounds like it was a great time. Why do I have to go to a Honda site to see pictures and write ups about RX7's at the event....

Anyway... Final chance to speak up on us getting together at Hooters on Battlefield. Is it this Saturday (May 1st) or the following Saturday (May 8th)? I would prefer the 1st as Phooka and I have tossed around the idea of going to watch the SCCA race at VIR on the weekend of the 8th, but we may just do it for a single day.

I will decide Wednesday evening and post when it is going to be, so any input woudl be appreciated.

The RX7 is eligible for ES (E Stock), CSP (C Street Prepared), FP (F Prepared), or SM2 (Street Mod 2). This is a pretty good guideline

http://www.odr-scca.org/DIY-classing.htm

Ignore the STS and STX classes as the RX7 is not eligible. Sort of answer the questions with your car and see which column your car fits in. There is one additon... TSCC uses a street tire class you can compete in. If you have non-R-compound DOT tires you can run in the indexed street tire class. Sometimes this is better sometimes it is not.

Oh one other thing. Novice.... Most of the clubs have a novice class you can enter your first 6 or so events. It is again an indexed class.... sometimes it is better not to run Novice.

Jim, I think your car would be in CSPX whcih is the street tired class indexed against CSP. CSP is fine too, but you have to compete against people like Beno with the Hoosiers or Kumhos.

I might be able to make this one, but, as anyone else stationed aboard a ship will tell you, there are no guarantees these days.
