Does anyone know how to b exempt from inpsection in NJ?
Hey I know some of u guys have it, Anyway my car is due for inpsection next year and I hate to through DMV inspection because their clowns. Anyway what are the steps I need to take, beside filling oyut the form on dmv? They ask for letter from manufacture saying that car is a collectible car? I highly doubt mazda will do that. Any input is help full.

Khris, the only way to register your car under collectable is to get collector car insurance.
There are alot of FD owners who have this so it is possible.
Only thing thats a requirement is an enclosed lockable garage, a daily driver and mileage limitation. Im sure you meet these requirements as most FD owners do.
Only thing that stopped me from going with hagerty insurance is because i dont have an enclosed garage, i told them i have a long driveway and my car gets parked in the rear of the house and my driveway has a lockable gate and they didnt allow it. So i couldnt get it.
Go to www.hagerty.com
The prices are extremely cheap and actually makes sense if you dont drive the FD much.
Then after you get collectors insurance, you can now register your car for collectors and you are now exempt from inspections. Its an amazing thing.

I just got shot down from Hagerty this morning. I've owned my '94 for 13 years, car is in a garage, I only drive maybe 500 miles per year if that. The lady basically told me the car is not quite a collectible car yet, blah, blah, blah. She did ask if I was in any collector car clubs or anything, so maybe if you say you're a member of something and also tell her that you take the car to car shows and you talk to a different person, maybe ya have a shot.

If you have a relative that lives in another state register the car there. I have PA tags and never get the car inspected. I cannot get a ticket for NJ inspection, however I can get one if I go to PA for not having a PA inspection.

Hagerty sucks.
I'm using American Collector's Insurance, and have the Collector Car Registration.
6k mileage allowed every two years, noise exempt, emissions exempt.
Pretty cool to have a street-legal 4 inch full exhaust
