Cover up for the winter!!!! (Car Cover Review)

If you dont have a garage for the winter, you might want to invest in a Car cover....

It was $200, but it was the best money spent..
http://www.autoanything.com/car-cove...x?kc=ffproduct

Works better than anything ive seen from autozone. And allthoe its made for the stock body, it fits the 99spec with no problem.

Wait if you had that driveway space, why did you park the car on the street?

Btw, it looks like i have the SAME exact cover, and i didnt buy it on autoanything and i paid less than 200.

It's time for a new cover for my 8. I've been using a cover that was bought 10 years ago for a mid size SUV and sat in the basement until I got the 8. I want something that doesn't balloon up in the wind and actually fits. Is your car cover water repellent and soft on the underside? BTW where in NY is that? I want to say either BX or Queens.

my cover was so custom fit that wider tires would allow the front to blow off with just the right wind, before that it worked great for 5 years, then I got the wider tires and it did not work as well.

I had to put grommets in the front to tie the cover on- then it was great.

I got mine from bigsky car covers, they have been around forever and sell them in any material you can image, all computer cut, probably all coming from the same taiwan factory anyhow.

I use california car covers. They are soft on the underside. Its weird. I put it on my car when it was partially wet and when I removed it, the water evaporated. It didn't trap any moisture at all. The prices range for what you want but the most expensive ones are around $220 I think. They work very well. I bought one for my base rx7 and it fit like a glove. Once the 99 spec exterior got installed, it still fit well enough.

There is one brand that is considered the best I forget which one it is.

Its my neighbors driveway.... sometimes he lets me park there..... but its hard cause i Daily drive my FD..... so i have to ask him to move his..

But theres no way im driving it in the snow, so i just parked behind him and ill leave it till the snow is off the floor.

Yeah BX.
And trust me I have a black car so you notice all the scratches... thats Y i got this cover....

Its super soft, and keep water out.... It can rain like CRAZY!!!!! once its stops, i just shake the cover (To knock off any rain still on it) and the car would look exactly like you see in the above pics

LOL.... im not sure if you have the option, but on mine it has a cable and lock to keep the cover on the car..

But theres still day's that its so windy it would knock the cover off the front half of the car... and i have to tuck it back down

Mine has a cable lock on it as well. I think it costs extra for it though.

the problem with the cable lock is its in the middle of the car, you yourself just said the wind can sometimes blow it off the front of the car- that is why I had the grommets put in at my local canvas shop, I had one put in the middle, and one by each front tire, I would put a rope across from side to side, then attach another rope to the one in the middle.
When I used that cover outside for the whole winter I lived on the water so you can imagine why I did not feel like tucking the cover back down everytime it blew a little.

Is it water repellent and soft on the underside? I'm not fortunate to have a garage, so when I park it on th driveway and it rains hard, I would hate to have standing water trapped under the cover.

I was surprised it fit so well since it was made for a non-spoiler base car.

Yea I made sure I rented a nice parking spot in the garage of my building. It took over a 6 months to find. Worth every penny. Now I just need my FD back.

No water gets through. It is the best cover I have owned because no water gets through and it fits tight. This Rx8 cover also fits my FD perfectly. I wish it had the soft underside but it does not. I like how it matches the car too, very purty.

It's an outdoor cover. I just keep it on in the garage for dust. It's made of Weather-resistant Stormshield fabric.

It used to be $250 but I guess they are much cheaper now...

Did a little research on autopia.org (detailing forum), seems like Covercraft Noah and Weathershield HD is quite popular. From what I've read, they're both water repellent to a certain extent because it won't trap moisture under the cover (which is important for long storage). The Noah is slightly cheaper, so I might look into one myself and retire the old cover.

if you click the link I put earlier it has every type of cover made, and explains the fabric.

Like anything else you get what you pay for and if the car is sitting outside you will want to buy the best you can afford

Better then listening to a bunch of people repeat what they hear, which happens on most boards.

they have covers like 4 stages higher then when I bought mine a hundred years ago, but $200 is about the min. you can expect to spend on a quality cover that will last you a long time.
