2006 Carlisle Pa Import/Kitcar Show
2006 Carlisle Pa Import/Kitcar Show
Greetings:
This year we at YAMS (York Area Mazda Society) are trying to have an attendance of 25+ members to get the use of a "free" tent at the 2006 Cars at Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals, May 19-21 In Carlisle Pa. And not only that, we're looking for a strong Mazda attendance this year. Last year went well for our first outing as a club, but this year we're asking for everyone's help. So, if you're planning on registering for the event, please do so under the YAMS banner (on the registration form, there's a section for club affiliation, just put York Area Mazda Society. Registration is $15 including weekend admission for two people. We won't assume any ownership of you or anything crazy, we're just trying to keep all the mazda's together at the event, and that's how we'll get the tent. So come on out for a day or three, meet some new people and share stories and race us on the little autocross course. For more info, you can go to www.carsatcarlisle.com or visit www.yamscarclub.com for more club info.
The Club Challenge is a competition to see which club has the most Show Field registrations on Saturday. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies are handed out in three classes: Fiero, Kit and Import. It seems like in the Import category the “Saabs at Carlisle club” has won this trophy every year. They had 137 cars in 2005. Even the “Volvo Club of America” had 49 registrations. With the number of mazda’s on the road and in garages on the east coast, there is no way we couldn’t get together more than these clubs.
April 20th is the deadline to register for the tent, and make sure you put our club name, York Area Mazda Society (not YAMS) on the registration form.
Thanks
Hope some of you can make it.

The Carsatcarlisle.com web site has directions how to get there.

This isn't necessarily a show event, more like a meet for all import brands. My RX_7 is really in need of a paint job. There are MGs, Triumphs, Porsches, Saabs, Fiats and a lot of other European sports cars but the Japanese cars have been slim the past years. That's why we want to get more Mazdas to show up.
The other half of the show is the Kit/Replicar's. You are going to fall in love with one of them, I'm sure. There a lot of Cobras (Factory Five was there last year), Lotus 7s, Porsche speedsters, Lomborginis, Fiero V8 conversions, Noble, Superformance, all the big names in Kit car industry usually show up with many of their products. These are the show cars of the event.
Also on saturday the Susquehanna region of SCCA will run a driving school on a small paved track at the back of the show. There is a 10 minute driving class and then you and an instructor will run maybe 20-30 laps on the track in your own car. A lot of autocross seat time for not much money. Then Sunday the SCCA will hold an Autocross on the same track. I think there will be three timed runs using the SCCA Pax scoring.
If you go look for the Y.A.M.S.(York Area Mazda Society) tent and stop by and say Hello.

No this event is not the same as "Modified Madness". That show is now called "Carlisle Performance and Style" and is being held two weeks earlier (May 5-7) than the "Import/Kitcar Replicar" show (May 19-21). Both shows are worth attending if you are a sports car nut like myself.
