FB with S5 13B swap, worth it?

I still have a great running S5 motor with just the throttle body and intake parted out just sitting in a totaled S5 at the house. I haven't really touched it since I have gotten my DSM. I was sitting here thinking why let that good motor go o waste. I could carb and port it and drop it into a FB and it would be a pretty decent DD and fun track car for the time being. I already have a gaslse front cover from an old car i parted out a long time ago. So I wouldn't need much left to get the project going.

Anyone have any ideas about this that have done it or hear-say about people who have? If so going carb what kind of setup would be best for the car? Not too exp with carbs, but my dad and alot of his buds race and on only carb setup cars so I could get help tuning wise from them and this board.

Also even though I have the motor and the front cover and all i need is a shell and a few other stuff. What it be worth doing? How fast are they? I wont be doing anything like a bridge port or anything like that, if i do end up porting it, because I will much likely use it as a DD or fun track car/ break from the DSM.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

go for it. it'll make for a fun little car.

you have choices for the intake (Weber, Holley, Dell'Orto) and you can usually find them in the for sale sections. i personally would look for a Weber (easier to find new critical parts for them than the other two), but the choice is yours.

so far it sounds like all you need to do is find a good shell, oil pan and mounting bracket. on the other hand, if you ever think of selling the motor, keep me in mind.

I have a mild SP S5 engine with 48dco and full RB SP exhaust. I guess you need to define what "worth" is to you. It was worth it to me.

I miss driving a Nikki-carbed 12A. Very good in town drivability and excellent MPG.

OTOH the surge of torque at 5500 and the way it just hauls *** past the end of the tach, makes me tolerate the awful city manners and 18mpg... of course a lot of that is because I'm not using the OEM setup. OEM things tend to drive like OEM. (I have the idle set to 1300 hot, so that it will run at 800rpm when cold, and it still can't really be walked away from until it hits about 130degF)
