i used a "JET CHIP" way back in the day and it was a waste a money the rtek seems like the way to go with having to go full standalone.

Rtek all the way. You can pick a palm up for less than $10 on Ebay.

Two of my friends ran their NA RX-7's with the older Wolf 3D model V3 standalone EMS with excellent results. One of the cars was a Sport with a stock-ported engine, and not only was it as fast as my slightly modified TII, but it even ran so smoothly that I could drive it around a parking lot in all 5 gears without touching the gas pedal. The owner of that car installed and tuned a Wolf EMS in a champion's SCCA EP RX-7 race car (NA engine), and it made so much more power that it started breaking 3rd gear.

I do not have any experience driving an NA RX-7 with any other brand or model of EMS, but I would assume that any of the other leading brands would have similar results as the Wolf assuming the tuner knew what he was doing.

after researching a lot i can tell the rtek is really user friendly and should be wasy to use...

with the megasquirt and other complete standalones how did you learn tuning? through trial and error or did you have it tuned by someone else?

I had it tuned once by BDC ... but since i've upgraded the firmware and went with just a tps I've been tunning it myself. Its actually not that hard with you have a wideband and egt's. You can get base maps from here on the forum too to get you somewhat started.
