You might check behind the cluster (Take it out) and see if the speedo cable came off. I've had lots of trouble with the clip that's supposed to hold it on not doing jack **** and so it's just held on to the back of the cluster by the length of the cable pushing it forwards or whatever. If it's still on there good you can always check where it goes into the tranny, mine was loose when i did my clutch. I know on my previous vehicle the exhaust liked to melt the cable but it's on the opposite side so I wouldn't think there'd be any problems there..

Everything for the cluster is easy to get to, three screws under the lip behind the steering wheel inside the cluster area, then disconnect the plugs and weasle it out. then Theres just four screws holding the cluster itself in. hopefully that makes some sense but its really simple, just 5 screws.

Ms DIY

OK you can't give us the fact that the body is great without PICS! Did you get those back brakes bled?

Everything is stock (it's automatic.. I'm dealing) I want to name her Smooth, but she's not worthy. The list is long. I just want a slick daily driver.

First I had to adjust both the brake and gas pedals... Now I need to bleed the brakes.

I've tried to find something posted about accessing the rear brake bleed nipple. I have loosened all the other sites, but of course it doesn't matter if I can't do the rear. lying on the ground on my back I can't get a wrench on it. Do I need to jack it up? use a special tool? get double jointed elbows? Is this simple and I have a mind block?

So got the plastic cluster off, along with steering wheel because I didn't want to chance anything with my manly hands :3.

I reach to grab the gauge cluster and it starts to come out but stops. I am guessing a wire or something of that sort is holding it back. I am pretty sure thats important so I didn't pull any further.

Is there any way you can look behind it? That could either be the harness holding it back or the speedo cable itself, which would mean it's still connected but obv you'd want to know for sure...Maybe try moving it around and see if you can get it to come out? Maybe the plug on the harness is caught on something

fcs guages are a pain in the *** to remove. u have to wiggle ur hand back there and remove everything. the easiest is tryin to disconnect the speedo cable the it will give way enough to where u can see behind there. the speedo cable has a white clip that has a push down type clip that holds it on the guages itself.

Any of you first gen guys *cough* kenc *cough* gonna make it to the meet on Friday? I remember seeing you in Las Vegas a long time ago! Car looked good and I always see it around UNM. Would be nice to see you at a meet.

But yeah, FRIDAY 7PM buffalo wild wings on Montgomery. Lets try to get a good turnout.

I know theres a lot of guys that check this forum but hardly get out or even post. Lets expand our community guys. I don't know if anyone else see the benefits of this? I've gotten so many deals on parts and made a lot of friends simply through my RX-7.

I know you guys are out there.. I know you wanna see some badass rotary goodness! Lets get it going!

Hey kencunm, Your avitar looks quite a bit like Smooth... She came from Rio Rancho. She's an Anniversary Edition in Renaissance Red I believe... But I fear she is a California car and has no sub-zero starting apparatus and I'm in a ski area!

My avatar is a 82 Cali Car. But it's sunrise red. My 83 is Renaissance Red though. I remember that car being on Craigslist for quite a while. Be careful though I think I saw at one time he had posted that it "used water". Not sure what he meant by that! Just keep an eye on the radiator or the possibility of white smoke in the exhaust! Glad to see you finally got back in the RX7 game though.

Angry Uses water

Yeah, I need to replace the water level sensor. It's cracked and I can watch the water dribble out the crack.

$56 part plus a gasket or seal for $4 plus shipping from Santa Fe Dealer?

The guy that bought my first 7 from me, I had hoped he had a parts car, he WAS right here in Taos...
That phone # don't work no more.....

Anyone got a parts car willing to let a level sensor go?

I'm surprised you can even find them anymore! I didn't see anything at rock auto. Here's the link for Mazdatrix:
Cart Price Check Part:15-610B-8553
But it's only a tad cheaper than what you were quoted. Strange Mazdatrix is usually about 15-25% higher than anywhere else!
But from the Mazdatrix link info, it implies that the coolant level sensor is the same for all those years from 79 - 92. If that's true then go back to rock auto and theres one for a 1985 rx7 1.1 engine for 27.79.
Look for parts number #855315610B

How did the meet go Friday? I would have gone but just been busy and have not been on in awhile. I got my LS1 tore down and now need to send it in to get it cleaned and checked. I will probably start building it up after taxes and have the FD going by the end of next year.

The meet went great had about 12 cars show from 1st gens to 8's. Great turnout, great fun, and a great cruise as a night cap. Gotta come next time!

Sorry I missed it. Maybe next one. Although right now I may have an issue with my ignition modules. She's having a rough time starting and I know the plugs are good.
