not ready
Yeah, I guess if I look back the SCCA events I attended were all a the track. The parking lot events were a motor club in MA. I will be on the lookout for SOMEONE. Corvettes of Mass. had categories for everyone to join. Many put their street car on for fun... I'm on the hunt. I too, hope I find something.

Hey all, currently living in Portales/Clovis. Recently bought my first RX7, a 1985 FB with a carbed 12A. Don't know a whole lot about them, so anyone nearby is more than welcome to come over and help me wrench on it with a few beers.

ok well the that 850 holley may be a lil to big for the car. me personally on a non ported motor its gonna be to big, but if u can bring the jet sizes down u may be able to get it to idle. i dont kno to much bout carbs but im sure we can google the **** out of it to figure it out. back home all my buddies ran holley 750 which on a street ported motor made some good power out of a 12a.

It's a Holley 4160 1850-4, 600 cfm carb with an electric choke. The intake is polished, I know that much. I don't know what kind of port it has on it though, as the dealer I bought it from had no clue. I assume it has some sort of port based off the fact that it has the massive carb, polished intake, electric fan, and long headers on it. I'm retarded when it comes to carbs, and even more so when it comes to rotaries. Here is a pic of the carb.

Ok well. Well if ur gettin way to much fuel it could mea that ur floats for the carb are not adjusted properly which is
Allowing to much fuel to be delivered. May want to check that find out how to adjust it. U said u already rebuilt it so that would be the next step imo.

Floats and needles; The death of carbs...That was almost always the problem i had when running carb'd piston motors. Maybe when you rebuilt it, something was left out/not put in right?

I know everything was put back in, but can't say for sure that it was done properly. This is my first carb rebuild. I'm going to push the car into the street later today so it is level, and adjust the floats.

Well, I found a vacuum line completely disconnected, but now I am out of fuel. Haha.
It gave me time to hose down the engine bay though, along with adjust the throttle cable, find the battery bracket and tighten it down, clean my bins, and tighten random loose bolts.

When I bought it, you had to spray starter fluid into the carb to get it to run, and even then it would only run a few seconds. Once I got it home, I rebuilt the carb, changed the fuel filter, left the battery on a tender, and filled the tank. Car still doesn't start. I pulled the fuel line off the carb and it was completely dry. At this point, I have my wife turn the key while I listen to the pump, and there is no sound out of it. I pull the rear bin and get to the plug, and find this.
I quickly repair the wire by stripping it and using a wire nut as a temp fix. Try it again and nothing. Now I check the fuses. See that my 20 amp "engine" fuse is blown. Throw a new one in and as soon as the key is turned to "on" I hear it pop. Unplug the fuel pump and try a new fuse, pops Again. Unfix my fix, new fuse, pops again. So obviously there is a short in my front harness. At this point, I have no fuse in then"engine" position. Here is the weird part. Just out of curiosity, I pour fuel in the carb, crank it, and it springs to life until the fuel burns up. So i am getting spark. I thought the engine fuse affected spark. Also, I am getting all gauges to work, and all other functions like lights and horn and voltmeter. Any ideas? What if I run new wires to the fuel pump. Where can I tap off of? Am I risking anything by not having that 20 amp fuse in the fuse box?

I'm gonna vote: No fuse is like a blown fuse. Disabling whatever, but not endangering anything else.
JD... did you know that there's a couple of holes in the fuse box that hold spare fuses? you only see the end of the spares.

the question is does it take a 20 amp fuse. is that the right size for the fuel pump i would check that. im pretty sure its right but check it anyways, then trace that power wire to see if there is anything that rubbing against it thats causing it to pop fuses. .

My fuse cover says its a 20 amp. I even tried a 30 amp after pulling my interior and tracing the entire harness back to the fuse box. Shouldn't I be losing my coils and spark plugs without that fuse though?
