Motec Questions...

Which Motec is best suited for the 13B? M4? M48? I know the M800 is supposed to run a 20B is that ecu overkill for the 13B? I've not heard alot of people on the forum running a Motec ECU mainly because of cost and most people and familiar with Haltech and PFC. Does the performance of these ecus justify the added cost?

The M4 series can run a 13B minimally.

There are many options on the M4 series, so you will need to talk to a Motec sales representative in order to see what is best for your application. BTW, many 20B engines on the road race circuit run with the M4 series. The M8 series is more advanced and has more options. If you are concerned about the cost, then you should probably stick with a cheaper EMS.

The M4s are only a few hundred more than a haltech so thats not that big of a deal but the M800 is more than twice as much if you get some of the extras like a wideband. Basically I just wanted to see if people thought the M4s were superior to the haltech.

Why is the Motec so much more money?
Why would anyone need a Motec for street use?
What makes the Motec sooo much better then everything else?
Where can I find a Motec Exhaust??

They have higher quality components which results in better accuracy. You may notice that other EMS manufacturers will only compare their product to the Motec's features rather than the quality.

there is a guy from philly using the motec m800. I am picking up a M4 Pro for my 88 after the POS gets up and running correctly. My mind is set on motec.

A lot of the Top Import FF use motec.

JoJo Callos use motec to hit 9's and many other also used motec too. World fastes street Supra that MVP motosports owned is tunned by Powerhouse motorsports and there speciality are Motec. So I heard it expensive but worth every cents. Even one of my friends who used eo owned a 9's civic say if he had a good deal on motec he would bought it along time ago.
I do like motec but it very hard to tuned that's what i heard.

what does fast times have anything to do with a good ecu. its if it can do what you want and do what you want well.

there are some lower bucket ecu's out there with less tuning capabilities bringing 4cyl's into the single digit numbers.

i agree with vision its funny how everyone compares ecu's in drag racing, when 98%of drag racing is full throttle where the power of the engine is related to the size of ur injectors/pump and the efficiency of the intake and exhaust system, if we want to talk about real racing cars ie CIRCUIT CARS then thats when ecu's with fast processors for good injector controll rule the world.
dont see many microtechs or wolfs or powerfc's on real race cars.
motec is the most common ecu used in racing worldwide.
comparing the new e11 haltech on quality is easy. its got the same 32 bit chip and its also got clever aussies writing the software for it.
