I failed IL emissions
We'll that sucks...my FD failed emissions.
I did the prep work (ie drove it for 30 mins before the test) turned off all accesorries, even coached the driver not to get into boost...and I still failed. .
HC = 2.21 (std = 0.80)
CO = 48.0 (std = 15.0)
I really need to get my car fixed to pass the emissions, but the timeframe the state gave me is super close (Aug 20). I emailed A-spec if they can get me in ASAP, but I'm worried that they might be super booked. So, I was wondering if someone can help me out so I can get my car fixed an tested ASAP so I can avoid having my license suspended.

...........Dude I failed SOOOO many times its not even funny, well actually its still kind of funny. My HC count was somewhere around 8-14 and CO I believe were well into the hundreds. Your numbers actually look pretty good compared to mine.
Do you have any idea what the problem could be? I have a stock cat, and a stock downpipe sitting in my garage, but I'm not sure if you're modded or still have those on the car?
My Father actually owns a few shops and I get almost ALL my work done at specifically one of them so maybe you want to give us a try. Let me know if your interested and I can provide you with further details.

Thanks a ton Farhan!
Yeah, normally I wouldn't freak out, but the fact that my license is on the line, I wanna get this resolved as quickly as possible!
While I was at Farhan's fathers shop, he (Farhan) brought up a good point...when you guys did your emissions test...did they do the "dyno" test for your emissions and/or just the "gas" test? The reason I ask is for Farhan, they just did the "Gas" test...for me they did the "Gas cap test" and then the "dyno" so I'm curious if this is common for everyone.

The "dyno" test is only done for cars pre-'96, the ones with OBD I. OBD II cars ('96 and newer) merely get their ECU hooked into to see if they're storing any trouble codes.

My car is nearly stock, just down pipe and cheap bastard intake. Each time my car has failed(both times it has been tested in the past 4 years), it was something obvious and simple (in hindsight). First time it was throwing a code for Air Intake Thermo Sensor, 40 bucks on a sensor and bam, it passed. Second time it failed it was idling high, I found a vacuum hose had popped off the UIM, bam it passed.
You generally have 6 months from the first listed due date. Though I too have come within weeks of "loosing my liscence". Though you CAN just mail them back that the car is no longer on the street, and get the mechanic to take it to the emissions place. Though if it is your daily driver, that wouldn't work.
I definately always get the whole dyno test, I never get a fast pass.
This last time I barely squeeked by on a second chance pass, though it only took about 1/4 of the second chance pass for the computer to conclude the car would pass.
I think it DOES depend on who you get to drive the car. I've always gotten passes with some younger guys who seem to know how to baby it through the test. I always sit in the passenger seat. This last time I got this guy who had video on his phone of a few of the more exotic cars he'd gotten through (lamborghinis and the like). But he was able to avoid boosting in all but one area of the test(the start of the fast part, where you have to get up to 50 very quickly).

If you have nice wheels on your car they WILL NOT make you do the dyno test. The IL dynos that I have gone to had some side rollers that lock the wheels in place and would probably dammage nice rims. They have always just driven over the dyno and did an idle or rev to X rpm in neutral emmision test for me. The gas cap test has been done before moving over the dyno every time for me.
Check out my thread on how I passed emmisions. S5 TII Streetport engine running 93 Octane, no alcohol in tank. LS1 Airpump + $65 cheapo autozone cat flanged in to temporarily replace my RB presilencer.
