OK, the trucks came with a 4.8L, a 5.3L and a 6.0L. All of the engines are iron blocks with aluminum heads and composite intakes. Some 5.3L engines were offered with aluminum blocks but they are somewhat rare. The LS1 that came in the 97-04 Vettes, 98-02 F-Bodys and 04 GTOs are aluminum block and head engines. The LS2 is a 6.2L and is avalible in the 05-07 Vette and 05-06 GTO. It too is all aluminum.

It is best to get everything as a package, i.e: motor, trans, wiring, ecm, etc.

$3000 for a package is the going rate right now and is a decent deal. I would recommend staying away from the 97-99 motors as they had some wiring and oiling issues. Idealy you should look for a 2001 or 2002 motor for the better heads, intake and ECM or and LS2 for the GTO or Vette.

The GTO and Vette oil pan will not fit our chassis so you will need to find an F-Body pan. If you choose to use the truck motor you will have to use the car intake because of hood clearance issues.

If you want to use the truck motor you will defintly save some cash. It is a little bit more work to track down all the parts but worth it because you use the money you will save and buy performance parts. If you want more info on any install related questions please refer to www.v8rx7forum.com

There is an awful lot of people there that can help you out or you can email me at admin@qcaaf.com, my name is Jesse.

a new lsd is always a good idea if you got the money! i have read storys of rx7s breaking the housing when getting to much traction. (like at the drag strip) most all of the professional builds use after market lsd for the better tourqe lock and duribilty. i agree with sniders too.

yeah they are pretty stout differentials, the FC unit is actually stronger than the FD. The modified turbo 20B's etc all make mad HP up top but i doubt many of them have 400+ tq at 3000 rpms like the big V8's do.

If you are in a FD your rear end will break.

Even my rear end is in danger with just a single. (they say 1.8 60ft is danger and i've done that).

They use torsen not clutch packs like the FC's.

Just swap out the Diff with the FC's. Kaaz's i hear are loud anyway.
