basicly you will need the wiring harness, injectors, tps, ecu, and all the odds and end sensors to get the motor running

how many miles are on the turbo motor are they long block or short block

i have a decent wiring harness and i think my brother might have a ecu if not i know you can pick one up for cheap in the parts section let me know if you need any parts

OR you could take that turbo engine, do a soft seal rebuild and throw those NA rotors in, buy the carb intake manifold and carb from racing beat. Next attach a distributor from a 12A instead of the CAS and not have to worry about any of that **** that Steve just mentioned. Hell, you could street port the engine also while you were in there and have a really good amount of power. Almost too much, which is exactly the right amount...

Ian, that is about where I am at right now.

I know if I can find a NA 12A or 13B the swap would be a lot easier, but I only have the fuel injected engines. If I could figure out the very minimum to get the fuel injected 13Bs to run, I would use them.

If anyone wants to trade one of my fuel injected engines for a non-fuel injected, let me know.

Thanks.

I've got $750 into it. If you want it, that's all I need.

Let me know if you are interested, if the price is too high I might be able to take a little hit on it.

No man, Im saying with a few parts you can change your EFI engine and make it a carbed one which would make it considerably easier as then you wouldnt have to worry about all that wiring, ecu BS. It would be a much easier install, although driveability would go down a bit compared to EFI.

i think im going to stay rotary.. i mean heck i have bought soo much stuff for my setup, and id have to sell it all in order to go ls1.. the idea is really cool and all but it be a nightmare to sell all these parts and i wouldnt get my money back out of anything im sure..

RacingBeat.com has alot of performance parts. If you decide to go carb you will need a distributor from a 12A, along with at least one ignition coil, and ignitors. I could sell you that stuff for a good price. Granted, the stuff I have is used (you dont want to buy a new distributor) but it was all working when I pulled it. Anyways, we can talk more on price if you decide that going carb is what you want to do. Some guys like to stay EFI because "its better" (it is better but most guys I have seen that swap rotaries into other vehicles tend to go with a carb for ease of install).

Edit: I also do powdercoating on the side. Not sure if youre interested, but I thought I would throw that out there.

Ian, I know Steve through out some info about getting the FI to work, but do you know exactly what I need to get one running? I just need the basics. In my Beetle a stock rotary is going to be a rocket!

Cost is going to determine whether I keep it FI or go with carbs... I can tell by the price of a Racing Beat's manifolds and carbs that it is going to cost quite a little bit to go that way. I saw ECUs and wiring harnesses fairly cheap, so maybe that is the way I go with them.

Do you know of anyone that has a manifold and carb setup that I could get ahold of for a fair price?

Not 100% sure what size of carb you would need but Im thinking a 550 or 600 CFM carb would be ample. You could pick up a used edelbrock/holley for cheap and rebuild it. I know what youre talking about as far as price from RB. Might be able to pick up a used 4 port 13B carb manifold for an ok amount. I personally dont know anyone with one right now but I can keep an eye out. Also, it HAS to be for a 4 port 13B, which is the turbo engine as the NA rotaries are 6 port. The old school 13B engines were 4 port and carbed, which is why you need to have a 4 port engine to mount the manifold.

As far as keeping it EFI, all you would really need to do is remove emissions (which in turn removes a ton of "needed" wiring) and lengthen/shorten wires to ECU and find a decent place to mount the ECU and then make the gauges work and you'd be set.

I found an S5 'vert. If I get it it will be parted out. Its red (of course) and has black interior... I already know of a few of you guys looking for decent shape black interior pieces and ERIC can buy the front bumper off me for cheap as it would make my job a whole ****-ton easier. Things that wont be for sale include but not limited to: Tails, S5 molding, FTPs, hood, turn and side lenses... I'll keep everyone updated on how it turns out.

OK, so I was wrong about the 4 port thing. I guess you can carb a 6 port, although if you end up wanting to give your engine a street-port then you would honestly be better off using the 4 port (turbo) engine as porting them gives higher gains. This is true with EFI also.

chjosi i have some stuff to get your motor running maybe not everything but quite a bit the parts to get a s4 n/a are very cheap and easy to get around here it would cost alot less than going carb
