Hey Iowa

So, if I have to hit my starter to make it work, does that mean it's going, or can I keep hitting it for a couple of months? And where can I hit it to make the best possible effect?

Scratch that, starter's fine. Now it's acting like it's out of gas, despite the 3 gallons in the tank, or like the fuel pump is dead. It'll start it I prime the carb, but die immenently.

If you are dead set on removing the turbos, here are some steps which should help:
1. Start by disconnecting your intake. Depending on what type of intake you have, you may just need to remove the intake tubes or completely remove the intake itself. With my M2 CAI, I can leave the box in the car and just remove the intake hoses.
2. Remove the Y-pipe crossover to the IC
3. Remove the BOV hose to the Y-pipe (and the vacuum connection to the UIM)
4. Disconnect all vacuum lines from the Y-pipe to the LIM
5. Remove the intake elbows off both turbos (10mm socket)
6. Unbolt the downpipe/pre-cat and remove it
7. Unbolt the Y-pipe from the turbos and pull it out
Make sure not to loose any of the gaskets as you remove pieces. At this point, you are ready to start unbolting the turbo. Take a look at the picture I took in the following thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/stock-twin-turbo-nuts-bolts-locations-485829/
Those are the bolts required to remove the turbos. Before pulling the turbos off, you need to remove the coolant lines. The line which will make the largest mess is the front lower turbo line. It points down so all the coolant above it will run out. I use a rubber cap from the HELP! section in most auto stores to plug it.
With the coolant lines off, you are ready to pull the turbos out.
Good luck.

Also, how hard are your vaccuum lines? I'd be a little skidish i they're hard as rock. I really don't want to completely **** your system. I'm about done with my car and i have a final exam on Wednesday so any time after that will work for me if you want my help...

Well i have tools. I just wanted to see if i needed to bring them. I think i could probably do next sunday.
You'll have to spend some money if you want to find a driver side door handle. At least $100.

this is basically exactly what my car is doing. i am wondering if it is not even the turbos. but it does seem like i am getting smoke from the turbos and at least one if not both of them are not working. i do have the car running now though. and when i drive it there is absolutely no power what so ever. but it will stay running now.
any body have any ideas?

If sunday still works for you, i can just come take a look at it and give my personal opinion. I'm no guru but i love working on these cars after figuring out how everything works and is put together.
