Just a small update on the powdercoat thing. I recently tested the neon valve cover (coated white, first try looks pretty decent). I poured some high mileage oil (~5K miles) on it and let it sit for about 36-40 hours and then proceded to spray it down with super tech engine degreaser to see if the coat would stain. It did stain it (lightly) but I am certain that a little more work and it would clean up. I also sprayed the same type of degreaser in a spot and let it sit for the same length of time. It did not peel the paint or cause it to bubble, although it did however take some of the glossiness out of it. Remember, this piece was sitting on the floor and sat at room temperature for the whole time and was not rinsed off until the test was completed. In my opinion the powdercoating held up fairly well and would definately dress up some engine bays. I am still in the learning/practicing stage so if anyone wants me to try out some parts I can. I would like to stay with steel parts for now as I have not yet tested aluminum. I am also going to be testing some "odd" parts off my protege to see if I can do a few more specialty type objects. Pics to come soon...

Oh and I also smacked the valve cover with a wrench to see how bad it would chip. The only part that came off was the small spot that was actually struck, not an area like regular paint would. I also scracthed the valve cover lightly (hard enough to scrape paint off) to see what the effects were. I was very pleased as you can see the scratches but they did not actually remove the powder coat paint. If anyone is interested in some small test pieces being done PM me and we can figure something out.

-Ian

my harness has s5 tii injector plugs spliced into it, so it wouldn't work unless you put other injector plugs on it.

Update on my 87 TII.....unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to get the title. The car was sold as a "No Title" auction, now I'm trying to figure out if I should sell as a whole or part it out. I don't want to part it out as I don't have the time. I'll sell the car as a whole for $1,500.

Well, name a price. I've never sold a TII, not sure what they sell for. Are you still interested in the car? There is a chance that the title can still be gotten (but not by me) You would have to contact the previous owner, and have him get a replacement title, and either you or him would have to pay for the previous registration fees. I didn't really want to deal with the hassle.

Yeah, my wife is fantastic at relaying phone messages. Give me a call sometime man, I hope to have this vert up and running by next week. The 1st gen is gone, sold it to a guy in Chicago, hated to see it go but I needed the cash.

I'll take the engine stand.

Do you have the gaskets (water/oil) for the RA kit?
