Won't start unless laptop is connected
I've got this strange problem where I go for a ride, stop at a store, or gas station and leave the car off for a little bit. When I get back in, the car won't start unless my laptop is connected to the ecu. It's always connected physically, but If I don't press F1 to connect with the software, I would just crank all day. As soon as I press F1 and turn the key, she starts right up. I've verified this even when cold and have been proving my theory for over a week now. Do you think that if the Laptop adapter is attached to the ECU, that the software must be also connected. I haven't tried removing the Laptop adapter and tried to start with nothing connected. At first I thought I was going crazy, but have showed several friends and they were amazed that my car wouldn't start unless I was connected. Once started, I can close the software with no problems. Any ideas????? I'm stumped.

Yeah, I've already checked all that. I'll try to unplug the cable all together tonight and see what results I get. The problem is that I have an in dash computer system in the car that has the cables always hooked up. I'll post my findings as soon as I find out more.

OK, I unplugged the serial cable from the ECU. Turned the key and cranked 15secs. Waited 10.. Tried again, and again, and again. Then plugged in serial cable and pressed F1 to connect. Turned the key and within 3 secs, she fired right up.
I'm completely stumped.

read the manual there is an option where the ecu has to be connected for the car to start. once this feature is disabled you will be able to start the car without the laptop being connected...

sorry for the delay but here is your answer.... screen #32 option #2 E.C.U, this option should be "Enabled" cause if it is set to "Lock On" the vehicle will only start with the microtech software connected to the EMS by way of a laptop. so switch that option to enabled and you should be good to go.
